Daecian Sparkes-Young: How To Turn Your Dreams Into Reality As An E-Commerce Entrepreneur

Daecian Sparkes-Young is a self-made 7-figure E-commerce entrepreneur. In a period of 18 months, he was able to generate over $1.4M across multiple Shopify E-commerce stores. Since then he has shifted his entire focus onto one main Australian brand.

Daecian Sparkes-Young, Founder of eComm Academy was kind enough to sit down with us and chat about his entrepreneurship journey.

So Daecian, how did you get started with your entrepreneurship journey?

Daecian: When I was personally starting, there wasn’t much information online as there is today. So a lot of my learning was through trial & error. The two hardest parts I struggled a lot with was identifying a profitable product to sell & achieving consistent sales.

What are some of the challenges you’ve had to face to get to where you are today?

Daecian:  Being a high school dropout it was hard for me to convince the people around me AND MYSELF that I could start my own online business. Straight after dropping out of high school, I vividly remember waking up at 4:30 am every morning to drive 2 hours to work. I worked for 10-12 hours of hard labor, drove 2 hours back home, ate my dinner, and went to bed. Then wake up & repeat for the entire week

I was literally living for the weekend. I absolutely hated it, I would go to work feeling horrible because I didn’t want to be there. I knew I wanted to make money from having an online business, but I literally had no idea where to start. So just like everyone did when they first started, I Youtubed “how to make money online”.

I had no money, no knowledge but I had unlimited drive & dedication. I didn’t care how long it was going to take, I knew I had to make this work.

And then BAM, it happened.

During this difficult time, I was introduced to the ‘Dropshipping Business Model’. I honestly couldn’t believe that there was a business model this good. I didn’t need an absurd amount of money,

I didn’t need a warehouse,

I didn’t need inventory

I didn’t need a team

I didn’t need an office

And I could choose any product out of millions that I wanted to sell?

I thought to myself, “ya right, can this really work?”

But when you are desperate enough and have your back against the wall – you’re open to any possibility, no matter what it takes.

Well, I’ll tell you right now.

Do you have some practical advice for those people who might want to get started in a similar career as you?

Daecian:

  • Watch a tonne of youtube
  • Have a proven to work advertising strategy

What are some of the quotes that make you feel most inspired?

Daecian: If you can see it in your mind, you can hold it in your hand.”

I am a massive believer in manifestation. Before having any sort of success with E-commerce I would lay in my bed and vision holding 10s of thousands of dollars in my hand, to the point where it felt very real. And about 9 months later I went to the bank and took $10k out and laid in my bed holding it.

Starting your own business is hard, what would you recommend someone should do when getting started?

Daecian:

  • Qualify your products by investigating if they are already selling
  • Make sure your store looks like an existing business
  • Make sure your backend is set up correctly before scaling

Currently, what is the big message you’d like to highlight?

Daecian: I’m so thankful I opened up my eyes and committed myself to this solution because today – I’ve built multiple 6-figure 1 product stores, some even exceeding $24,000 in 24hours.

Thanks for the interview! What is the best way for someone to reach you if they are interested in working with you?

Daecian Sparkes-Young: Feel free to reach out to me here eComm Academy Facebook Group
