Daniel Hartz, founder of Sustainability Champions, is amplifying the voices of sustainability leaders to inspire a better world

According to the United Nations, worldwide consumption and production, a driving force of the global economy, rests on the use of our natural environment and resources in a way that has a destructive impact on the planet. Leaders in the sustainability space have been calling for industries, small businesses, and people to try to do more with less impact on our environment. One such leader is Daniel Hartz, founder of Sustainability Champions, a multimedia brand that highlights people who are working hard to solve the biggest environmental challenges we face today. He created a platform to share the voices of those pushing sustainability to inspire others.

The California native’s passion for green living started at a young age. He would keep seeds from fruits and vegetables to later germinate them in paper towels and then plant them. This would spark a passion that Daniel still has today for planting trees and eventually became the inspiration for launching Sustainability Champions. He felt that many people looking to adopt sustainable habits in their daily lives and that he could create a platform to amplify powerful stories to help other achieve this.

Sustainability Champions has gained a loyal following of over 127,000 followers on Instagram and 16,000 on LinkedIn.  Daniel Hartz shares, “we are extremely grateful for the people who like, support and share the inspiring work of the individuals we feature. These people are dedicating their lives to protecting and healing the planet and we are so excited to share their stories.”

Daniel launched Sustainability Champions because he wanted to hear positive news about the environment. He shares, “there are many people, communities and companies working hard to solve some of the greatest environmental challenges and I want to find them and share their inspiring stories.” In the media landscape of so many doom and gloom stories, he aimed to create a place to encourage more people to take action and be a champion in their own environment. Daniel adds, “the most important message we want to share is that every contribution counts. Every individual or group we feature is producing a sustainable innovation that can make a positive impact on the environment.”

Daniel hopes that his platform encourages other to live a more sustainable life. He shares, “I believe some easy places to start are personal choices during our day, conservation and commitment.” He believes that everyone can play a small role in the sustainability movement, and it is okay if nobody is doing it completely perfect. He adds, “it is better to have lots of people being sustainable imperfectly than to have a few people doing things perfectly.”

As we move forward on bringing sustainability to the forefront, Daniel believes we need to demand systemic change from our local governments and corporations. He shares, “as consumers we have to educate ourselves and dictate our preferences to support companies, individuals and lifestyles that suit our own values.” He adds, “reducing food waste, composting to avoid sending trash to the landfill, and using recycled materials are all positive ways to reduce greenhouse emissions.”

Amplifying the voices and messages of Sustainability Champions will always be the focus for Daniel and his brand. He aims to find new mediums of communication to expand their reach and continue to initiate positive action. Daniel shares, “stay tuned for more features, videos and ideas on our YouTube, Instagram and blog, where we feature sustainability leaders, review products and services and break down large concepts to make them applicable to ourselves and others. We are learning every day and we are building a community of inspiring individuals who are leading sustainable innovations and practices. Every contribution counts.”
