Destinee Berman: How She Brought Over $16M in Sales For Experts Who Never Taught Online.

Destinee Berman
Today Destinee shares her expertise with offline experts who want to make it big online.

Today, Destinee Berman is an accomplished launch strategist who helps experts and educators start their online schools. She has a handful of seven-figure launches, and many experts found their audiences online, thanks to her efforts. With a life-long passion for personal growth, she chose to serve in this industry. Her success stories include launching online schools for crystal healers, astrologers, multiple yoga teachers, and a priestess mystery school.

But her story did not start all that bright.

Escaping Cambodian Holocaust

Destinee’s life started in a refugee center in Thailand where her parents came seeking help, running from the Cambodian holocaust’s horrors. She was just a year old when her family’s paperwork came through, and they relocated to the United States. They settled in downtown Los Angeles in a tiny one-bedroom apartment in Chinatown.

While arriving in the U.S. with practically nothing, her parents worked hard to provide for the family. Their entrepreneurial spirit was strong. Together, her mother and father were able to establish 3 businesses: a janitorial, house cleaning, and network marketing enterprise. As the businesses started to pick up, her parents were able to move the family to a bigger home where she finally had her room.

Destinee and her brothers helped their parents with the businesses. Whether it was working at the register or helping with the schedule, no job was too much to handle. At the age of 11, she went on the stage of a room full of adults to teach a class as part of her parents’ network marketing business. That early exposure to the business environment would come to play a big role in her career.

Family Business Or Her Dreams?

As it often happens, parents had their idea of a path that would lead to success. While Desti

nee’s father would buy her every self-help book he could get; academic excellence was not much of a priority for him. In fact, her parents would rather see their daughter develop the necessary business skills and join the family business full time; instead of going to college. Pursuing academic excellence and applying for Berkley was Destinee’s own choice. After graduating from Berkley, she wasted no time buckling down to work. As a type-A overachiever, her innately strong inner drive helped her to reach a stable 6-figure annual income within her first 3 years of working in Silicon Valley.

Her career was developing fast, and soon, she became an accomplished marketing professional in the tech industry.

Despite a thriving corporate career, Destinee started to develop an entrepreneurial itch. It led her to experiment with several side-businesses during her last few years as a tech industry professional.

She reached a career crossroads when one of the world’s biggest software companies bought the tech company she was working for in 2012. She got offered a major promotion. The kind that could provide an even more promising future and a worry-free life. However, she felt apprehensive about it. For the first time, she didn’t know what she wanted to do.

With her husband’s support, she decided to take 6 months off from work to figure things out. During that time, Destinee consulted with people from the online learning industry and realized it was time to turn a life-long passion for personal growth into business. At the end of her furlough, she launched her consultancy business and was able to hit 6 figures within the first 8 months.

Freedom Through Fulfilling a Purpose

Fear is something that most – if not all – business people are familiar with.

As an employee in one of the world’s biggest tech firms, Destinee never had to worry about things like when and where revenues will come from, whether clients will stay or leave, or expand the business. She only focused on one thing: marketing the company’s products. The company pays her a very nice salary twice a month like clockwork.

When she took the entrepreneurship leap, things changed a lot. Destinee was now responsible for the entire business operation and no longer had a fixed paycheck’s security blanket, among others. According to her, being a full-time entrepreneur is one of the most honest, naked, and raw journeys one can ever take.

Destinee started by providing marketing consultancy services to clients. Then, she took another big leap. In 2017, she launched her digital course, conducted her first webinar, and built a personal brand. From earning 6 figures in less than a year after starting her business, she has now helped launch over 70 online programs that brought in more than $16 million in revenues for her clients.

At that time, I was guiding all my clients to expand their digital presence. I now had to walk my talk and do the same for my brand.

It was a conscious choice guided by a personal passion for serving boutique niches, such as yoga and astrology. For example, together with one of her first clients, she launched a priestess mystery school. Despite being in a largely unknown niche, Destinee helped the client earn half-a-million dollars in revenue on its first launch. Other micro-niche clients she has helped launch successfully include crystal healing, yoga psychology, and astrology educators.

Her Keys to Success

Fortunately, her father was a huge influence in her life. His passion for continuous self-education, personal growth, and entrepreneurial spirit rubbed off on her. Hence, she had the fortitude and wisdom to take the calculated risk of leaving her corporate job and become a full-time businesswoman.

Type-A attitude also played its role. As a naturally-driven person, she was able to persevere in looking for ways to rise above all challenges that came with her business journey.

Finally, knowing and intentionally pursuing her purpose have enabled her to continue working hard and smart, especially during the early stages of her entrepreneurial journey. These gave her enough motivation and clarity to succeed as a consultant and digital product creator.
