Determination, Dedication, and Drive: the Incredible Story of Jamian Lavelle Ross

While the majority of people in the world blindly chase success, only a handful realize that it is just the outcome; all that matters is the journey. Struggles and challenges are a part of everyone’s life, but one needs determination, grit, and resilience to overcome. The story of Jamian Lavelle Ross is a perfect example. From growing up in an acute financial crisis in a crime-infested environment to serving in the U.S army, Jamian Lavelle Ross has proved anyone can change his fortune if he’s determined to. He asserts that it takes a strong will, determination, and dedication to dramatically turn the tides of one’s reality.

Jamian Lavelle Ross began from a peasant family in Midland, Texas, where he lived with his brother Tim and his grandmother. Growing up was challenging as basic necessities were foreign to them. While a generator suffices the power needs of the house for a few hours, Jamian and his brother had to get clean water from neighbors. Most of their meals included welfare condiments like sugar sandwiches and syrup sandwiches. Jamian’s mother was in the Army and rarely visited her children. His father lived on the same street but would very rarely visit him.

Jamian’s uncle, who was more like an elder brother to him and Tim, lived in the same house. In a bid to opt for a better living condition, Jamian and Tim stayed with their aunt Teresa who lived in a trailer home that barely had room for them but had electricity and clean water, unlike their previous place of abode. Teresa’s husband was abusive and also a convict who killed his first wife and was out on parole. He eventually killed Teresa, too, leaving their 3-year-old daughter and a newborn child helpless. Jamian and his brother were sent to Teresa’s elder sister Sarah, who settled in California and owned a beautiful house with all luxury utilities.

When Jamian and his brother eventually found a comfortable haven, their mother asked Jamian to live with her in Maryland. Tim accompanies Jamian to live with their mother, only to find out that she remarried and has two kids. They ended up babysitting the kids, leaving them with little to no option of pursuing their future and career. In a turn of events, Jamian and Tim successfully left their mother and became financially independent. While Tim joined the Army, Jamian worked for a gym equipment company that paid him well. However, the job was not fulfilling, and Jamian became an alcoholic and drug addict. At the most crucial phase of his life, Jamian became a destitute with no purpose in life and almost ended up in prison if his high school friend SirValiant Martinez Brown had not supported him.

Val was a star basketball player; a career Jamian has always dreamt of. After living with Val for a few months, Jamian got an insight into the deceptive world of celebrities, where everything is mostly a delusion. Discouraged from pursuing his dream career, Jamian became desperate to find a purpose. On several occasions, Jamian has faced death in several incidents like car accidents or even a gun pointed at him; nevertheless, he always escaped this ordeal.

In 2003, Jamian found his purpose in the Army. He believes there’s no greater nobility than serving one’s country and protecting its citizens. In 2004 Jamian became a father. In 2009 he was blessed with a baby girl, and in 2010, 2014, and 2015 he welcomed three more sons. Jamian is now living a fulfilling life with a strong purpose and a happy family. He wants his story to inspire those who feel lost. Jamian intends to prove that no one is broken beyond repair and anyone can change his life positively with perseverance, dedication, desire, and drive.
