Exclusive Interview with Entrepreneur, Author and Artist Ar-Rasheed S. Brisco Jr

Recently we had the chance to sit with Ar-Rasheed S. Brisco Jr. of Rahway, NJ. He’s an up and coming entrepreneur who’s run his company “New Life Credit Consultants” since 2018, which helps people understand and restore personal credit. Not only has his company grown to help countless clients from over twenty-two states; but he’s also written a full length book that helps to talk about credit released in 2020 called “Mastering Credit” to further help clients. With him starting to branch out into new realms in this new year, we wanted to catch up with him to learn a little more.

So Ar-Rasheed, can you explain what your organization does?

A: The company was established to help people struggling with their credit scores and reports to improve them through disputes sent out in the mail. Originally it started with just helping friends and family, but eventually before I knew it I had a staff and daily “to-do” list! American credit reports all have laws that need to be followed and when those laws are violated that gives us a chance to help them. Even through the growth of the company, our mission, vision and values have all remained the same.

What was the most discouraging moment you experienced while putting this company together?

A: It truly is something when you’re starting and running a company, people think that it’s a glamorous thing because of social media and the internet. It’s tough for sure. One of my most discouraging moments was definitely when I started to see lots of misinformation regarding credit begin to get spread around to people I personally knew. Having a friend say “hey Isaw this video, what do you think?” and seeing how wrong the content is can be tough to see. You want to help everyone, but some people make that hard to do.

What do you know now that you didn’t know three years ago?”

A: One thing I wish I knew a few years back was just how powerful silence can be. Everything doesn’t warrant a response, your attention or even your ponderance. Sometimes, saying nothing is the absolute best thing you could say.

Let’s talk about your books, are there more coming?

A: I’m working on a book that will address failure and how to embrace it. Failure should be your friend, because it comes with experience which is one of the best teachers we have. Be on the lookout for “Finding Faith in Failure” coming in March. If all the times I failed at something I stopped trying to accomplish my goal, who knows where I’d be. This book will talk all about how empowering failure can be.

Lastly, let’s talk about music. How’d that come about?

A: The idea to make a motivational EP came from having been told constantly that people enjoyed the motivation they felt after speaking with me. I also hosted some seminars which were based around entrepreneurship and credit. From there, it made sense to record some of these talks I’ve had with people. I’ll be putting out a full project soon continuing to help inspire and motivate those who listen.
