Faisal Saigol: How A Successful Mind Operates

The world we live in today has become exceedingly busy. It is, therefore, very unusual for someone to engage in multiple start-up companies with $ billions of upsides.

An exception is Faisal Saigol, a serial entrepreneur with more than $1BN of deal-making and company-building expertise. He has built a stellar reputation in the world of property investing and is doing the same in global education.

Faisal Saigol’s background is deeply impressive. He studied Law as an undergraduate at Jesus College, Cambridge University and holds an MBA as a graduate degree from Harvard Business School.

Faisal Saigol was an effortlessly bright student. In his notoriously tricky Cambridge entrance interview, the Cambridge don randomly picked Karl Marx as a topic to pile the pressure on and see how Faisal reacted. The don asked a particularly arcane question that leading dons were vigorously debating. Without hesitation, 17-year-old Faisal’s immediate response was to dismiss the entirety of that author’s most famous work by delivering a highly unusual interpretation of Marx’s key terms. That mix of perceptiveness and confidence won Faisal an immediate Cambridge offer. Faisal then ended up receiving the highest grades in his A-levels and his Cambridge STEP papers.

By the time he graduated from Harvard Business School in his late 20s, Faisal had ticked all the heavyweight career boxes by working at Bain, Goldman Sachs, and venture capital. He now decided the time was right to become a property entrepreneur.

Saigol DDC built over $1BN of top-tier London properties and acquired residential portfolios while London boomed in the years 2000-2015 as the financial capital of Europe. Saigol DDC (based in the Isle of Man) focused on London’s finest addresses, from Mayfair to Belgravia to Knightsbridge to St. James’ Park. It created spectacular properties overlooking sights such as Regent’s Park and Parliament fusing those properties with palatial grandeur and amenities including saunas/ porterage/ 3D cinemas and billiards rooms. Works of art included Francis Bacons, Warhols, and Hirsts. Since 2015, Saigol DDC has diversified and bought hotel portfolios, logistic facilities, office buildings and student accommodation portfolios by taking advantage of market mispricings. Saigol DDC’s work has been recognized by various platforms, including the Wall Street Journal and The Times of London.

Faisal is looking forward to bringing the same successes, vision and know-how to global education via his start-up SaigolEd. In Faisal’s words, “the vast majority have been locked out of the best education for too long.”

SaigolEd aims to unlock new horizons by giving the best education to millions of kids worldwide. SaigolEd has highly experienced team members, including those who have commercialized award-winning tech products with Google and Microsoft and those who have worked at one of the largest private education companies in the world. The key behind SaigolEd is its unique mix of technology and education.

Besides excelling in his career, Saigol is an avid traveler and has traveled to almost 50 countries. His love for world history, skiing, tennis and boxing tell his sense of adventure. He has hitch-hiked on container ships, sky-dived in Florida, researched red leaf monkeys in the rainforests of Borneo and motorcycled across Thailand.

Faisal is setting an example to others that passion and innovation have the power to reshape the world.
