From Plates To Rates: The Mortgage Agent With The Ingredients To Success

A career change is never an easy thing to pull off, especially with a pandemic, but experience as a restaurant owner and chef had Zac Lofeudo more than ready to trade in the heat of the kitchen for the perils of the mortgage industry a year and a half ago, and he certainly hit the ground running.

He now works as a mortgage broker for one of the top mortgage firms in Canada, Dominion Lending Centres Estate Mortgages. There, he brings his own unique brand of efficient and timely customer service, along with a steely determination to deliver consistent results for his valued clients. “Learning from one of the top mortgage brokers in Canada allowed me to come into the field with a strong knowledge in all things mortgage lending. Coming into a career during a pandemic has made me adapt to be efficient and also work in building connections in a world where it is harder to connect, due to the pandemic.”

Hard work is a shared virtue for the hospitality and mortgage industries, as Zac undoubtedly knows. He’s had to adapt in more ways than one during his pre-pandemic career shift. Whereas his original intention was to shake hands and kiss babies while making connections, Zac has needed to adjust to the social distancing rules and master running his business through the phone, “I was able to transition my personal skills in a digital form but it wasn’t without work and practice at doing so. I needed to learn the new normal of digital work while creating a customer experience that felt personal and authentic.”

The Dominion mortgage agent explained how he became inspired to make the switch in careers despite the many difficulties, “I have always been self employed. Starting my own businesses from an early age and opening my own restaurant at 21. I wanted the stability of a large company working for Dominion Lending Centres but still allowed me to create and build my mortgage business. I always want to be financially independent based on how much I can put in and what I will get out of it.”

As a mortgage broker, Zac also values honesty, work ethic apart from customer service. His time running a restaurant shaped Zac’s approach to bringing his clients the maximum success, and informed the way he looks makes his mark in the industry, “Now, working as a mortgage agent I have the same client focused customer service and relationship building driven goals. I spend time creating relationships with new and existing realtors, lenders, underwriters, financial advisors and insurance agents everyday. I focus my time on making sure clients are involved and are educated on every step of the process.”

That’s because, much like the best dishes are made with the best produce, Zac wants to give his clients the right ingredients to create wealth for themselves. “My goal is to educate clients on the lending space while placing them in the best mortgage product to fit their needs. I achieve this by having in depth conversation about product features that suit the clients long term goals. A mortgage is more than just a rate, it’s a wealth building strategy.”

He continues, “I work with my clients to understand their 3,5 and 10 year goals not just for their current mortgage transaction but for their plans to sell in the future, upgrade, buy another property and work those goals into their current mortgage.”

He couldn’t have said it better. But, the question remains, what’s in store for Zac? He gave us an answer: “I hope to build a network of professionals so that I can provide consistent services for my clients. I want to be able to place hundreds of clients per year into their dream homes while creating lasting financial legacies for their families for generations to come. All while educating the masses on financial literacy involving financing. My goals are relationship driven and I’m always working to become a leading force in the mortgage industry growing those relationships.”

Homebuyers and property managers all over Canada can rest easy with Zac’s help. His customer service is five-star quality, and his knowledge of the mortgage industry is sharper than a knife’s edge. If anyone knows the ingredients you need to create your own success and build wealth for generations to come, It’s Zac Lofeudo.
