Until a few years ago, most breast cancer survivors opted for nipple grafts, the protrusion of the nipple made them feel complete and feminine. However, women were disappointed when the nipple grafts flattened or did not have enough definition

3D Areola Complex Tattooing, sometimes called “nipple tattooing” was introduced and has become a popular choice that can help a breast cancer survivor feel more comfortable with her new breasts. Some women find they are content without having a nipple at all, while others choose a form of reconstruction that does not require surgery. Areola complex tattooing is the final step to the breast reconstruction process.

Areola complex tattooing is relatively simple, has a high degree of satisfaction, adds no new scars, and can be repeated if necessary. Areola complex tattooing is completed no sooner than three months after nipple reconstruction to allow the latest incisions to heal well.

Advanced micropigmentation techniques involve shadowing, highlighting, feathering, and contouring. Color selection and blending is vital for a natural looking result.

If you live in the tri-state area and are considering getting 3D Areola Complex Tattooing, Beauty Kult & Lair located in Westfield, New Jersey is the place for you. If you are interested in getting in touch, you can set up an appointment via phone or email: 908-233-2910, info@beautykultandlair.com.

Here are some commonly asked questions about 3D Areola Complex Tattooing:

“How does it work?”

We will discuss the placement, size, and pigment options for your new nipple and areola tattoo. We will assess the area in order to come up with a plan for the process that works well for you and gets you the results that you want.

“How long does it take?”

The entire appointment from start to finish should take about 3 hours. This includes numbing, layout, and pigment color selection.

“How much does it cost?”

1 breast 450USD, 2 breasts 900USD. Most insurance plans cover full or partial cost of the procedure for a 1st time reconstruction client. Client may be responsible for cost if they have previously had areola/nipple tattooing done and this is a touch-up.

“Does it hurt?”

In most cases areola tattoos do not hurt at all. For those who have undergone breast reconstruction surgery, there is usually a loss of sensation in the area. For those who have not undergone surgery, we apply a numbing cream to help control the sensation.

“Is it safe?”

Definitely. Tattooing the breast is as safe as any other tattoo. We adhere to the highest standards of safe sterilization and hygiene practices.

“What results can I expect?”

The result is an image of a 3D nipple and although it has no physical dimension, it looks amazingly real. A realistic looking nipple has the positive effect of improving body image and increasing self-esteem.

“How long do I have to wait after surgery to have the procedure done?”

We require a minimum of 3 months of healing time to pass after the date of final surgery and/or nipple reconstruction.
