GoSun is Changing the World with the Power of Sunshine

At GoSun, founder and CEO Patrick Sherwin is on a mission to make clean, efficient, solar energy a way of life – not only for outdoor enthusiasts and recreationalists, but for everyone. That mission began years ago when he was living off-grid in the Caribbean.
“The whole company stemmed out of my time in the outdoors,” Sherwin says. He launched GoSun as a “blending of science and clean technology with a thirst for being in remote, austere, outdoor environments.”
With several products already selling well around the world as well as more going into production each day, GoSun is quickly growing into the go-to source for solar-powered outdoor products.
“We focus on meeting essential needs while off-grid,” Sherwin explains. “So, we have developed products that can do your cooking, cooling, charging, lighting, water purification, and sanitation. Plus, we have ancillary products, like a coffee brewing system and personal heating.”
One of their most innovative and popular products is the GoSun Chillest – a solar-powered cooler that functions like a portable refrigerator. With the ability to keep products cold, even frozen, without using ice like traditional coolers, the Chillest is changing the way people live outside.
“It has a brushless DC compressor, similar to a refrigerator, and without the ice, you are saving so much space,” Sherwin says. “The ice is not pulverizing anything, or melting, or turning into a soupy mess. So, your cooler stays dry and organized, and you have so much more space.”
Although many of GoSun’s initial customers have been recreationalists searching for a way to leverage clean solar technology while outdoors, Sherwin believes that GoSun products will appeal to all consumers in time.
“Being more environmentally responsible with consumer products is a major motivator,” Sherwin says, stressing the need for clean, renewable energy and the reduction of single-use products.
By focusing their efforts on better design and using the latest available technology, the team at GoSun is creating products that are not only better for the environment – they are better for the consumer as well.
“Customers attracted to GoSun may initially be interested in solar for environmental reasons,” Sherwin says. “And then they realize our products are not just cleaner, they’re simply better because they’re more convenient, easier, faster, and more reliable.”
Their commitment to environmental stewardship goes beyond creating clean energy products, Sherwin explains. GoSun is heavily involved in helping people recover after natural disasters – whether that is through clean up efforts, donations, or providing meals to communities. They have also partnered with Trees for the Future and have planted over 50 thousand trees to date.
“We are a social enterprise, more connected across a sphere of impact,” Sherwin explains. “We don’t just want to be a successful company, we want to be a really good company.”
As a company driven by their commitment to help people around the world, GoSun offers a rare opportunity for people to not only enjoy their innovative products but also to invest in the company itself. Through Start Engine, anyone can become investors in GoSun – a company that has experienced over 300% growth over the past two years.
Through their incredible new products and drive to make clean, renewable energy accessible to people around the world, GoSun promises to be a solar company with a very bright future.
