Executive Voice

Hala Owais, a talented girl who turned her passion into her profession.

It is fair to say that the world of beauty is thriving in the Middle East and several rising stars based in the UAE are tapping into this lucrative industry. Hala Owais had a passion for makeup and beauty ever since childhood and as she grew up, she decided to pursue and transform her passion into her profession. The journey, which started a few years ago, is today an inspirational tale for people across the region. Hala’s unflinching zeal to learn and an indomitable will to succeed has helped her pave the way for the zenith of success. “Huge credit goes to my father for inculcating business skills in me. The amount of exposure I received from my dad was enough for a person to receive in one lifetime. I spent a lot of time talking to him and discovering the creative aspects of my personality. Besides, when I was too young, I was always delighted to see my mom do makeup on herself. I used to pick up her lipsticks and other makeup stuff and tried to apply it on myself. I think those little activities and colorful shades of lipstick kindled a flame in me,” says Hala.

Hala decided to take an entrepreneurial plunge and start her beauty brand- Shop Hala. Hailing from Dubai, she realised that there is a huge gap in the market for good lashes in the UAE. One day, out of passion, she decided to start her own eyelash brand and named it – Shop Hala, which later on won the title of The Best Influencer Beauty Brand, 2020. Hala describes lashes as the most precise, lightweight, fluffy yet glamorous. Due to her hard work and peer appraisals, this Indo-Pak makeup artist got a chance to work with many eminent brands like Estee Lauder, Braun, Nars, Aveda Middle East and many more. She has mostly been self taught about this industry, art truly inspired her in every aspect of her life.

Women deserve to have a sparkle in their eyes and that’s what has motivated Hala to create – Shop Hala. These eyelashes are made to enhance stunning bright eyeshadows and bring out the true beauty of delightful eyes. Hala is definitely a self proclaimed beauty educator. She believes in making a large community and helping them understand about the right techniques and right products they should use according to their skin type.

Beauty – one of the biggest industries in the world. With the rise of influencers using social media as an outlet to showcase their talents, beauty influencers have emerged from all over the world and experimented with makeup using their faces as their canvases, and there is no exception for these talented beauty queens. Hala is one such successful Indian beauty blogger in UAE. She was nervous initially to begin her Instagram page but because of the love and appreciation her viewers showed and due to her husband’s support she has come a long way. Hala is now at almost 54k followers and has also started a YouTube channel. “My approach has always been to be more enthusiastic towards my work rather than money. The monetary part always follows later in this profession,” admits Hala. The journey of this 25 years old, from makeup artist to now the owner of a renowned eyelash brand has really been stimulating.
