How Brian Covey Is Disrupting the Mortgage Industry as VP of loanDepot

Mental resilience and visualization can help a person win any battle in their personal and professional life. Brian Covey’s story is a perfect example here. Currently the vice president at loanDepot, one of the top 5 lenders in the mortgage industry, Brian’s life was not the same when he started his career. His incredible stories of hitting rock bottom only to bounce back higher in life can truly inspire anyone who wants to grow their career.

Born and brought up in Memphis, TN, it was only natural for Brian to love soccer and begin his career in that sport. He was a professional Olympic soccer player for the U.S.A. Being a soccer fanatic, Brian had developed a keenness to be fit from a very early age that he practices still today. Sport taught him to be focused and have the mental strength to persist even when things weren’t going his way. These qualities helped him build great leadership skills both on and off the field. Just a few years after his days in soccer ended, Brian experienced a huge setback in his career during the 2007 market crash. It was the worst phase of his life to survive as Brian and his wife were raising two toddlers. However, on the positive side, it marked Brian’s journey into the mortgage industry.

Brian started as an executive at loanDepot. He became a top producing loan officer in Memphis within a few years before pursuing his leadership journey. As the VP of loanDepot, Brian has successfully scaled the team to earn ten times more revenue, making it a billion-dollar business in less than 4 years. He has recruited more than 200 new sales and operations team members and currently leads one of the fastest-growing mortgage teams in the country. His team now has almost 20 chairman’s elite winners from just 4 when he started. Brian is leveraging his sport psychology to combine disruption and dominion culture to win the market. At present, Brian is managing the top 3 regions in Memphis as a key industry influencer.

Brian’s contributions as a leader in the mortgage industry have earned him the position of Forbes real estate council member. He is also a regular speaker at Housing Wire and other industry events. Even after a series of accomplishments in his career, Brian has always found ways to give back. In 2020 he started a podcast called “The Brian Covey Show.” He interviews successful people on his show who share their stories of overcoming challenges to reach the top. So far, “The Brian Covey Show” has motivated millions to chase their dreams no matter what comes their way.

Now Brian wants to share his real-life experiences with millions to help them discover the same grit and mental resilience he used to overcome every setback in his career and personal life. To achieve this feat, Brian is writing a book titled Conversations with Covey. He is optimistic that some of the incredible stories from his life will inspire others to develop a go-getter attitude. Besides being a podcaster and an author, Brian is also a blogger sharing snippets from his life and experiences as a leader to help others feel confident in their journeys.

Brian wants to continue inspiring millions through his stories and impact the mortgage industry as a leader for many more years to come. To him, “the function and duty of a quality human being is the sincere and honest development of one’s potential.”
