How Colton Graves is Bringing Country Attitude to the Music Industry
Life on a ranch has given Colton Graves the ideal conditions to become a country music artist. His upbringing in Folsom California planted the seeds to the success that has since grown out of the local shows he played.
Musical Inspiration
Colton’s interest in music also grew from the relationship with his best friend and Grandpa, Lloyd. Singing in his grandfather’s truck got Colton hooked on music from then on. The singer-songwriter side of his talent began developing in 8th grade when Colton’s father borrowed him his guitar and a little 6 track recorder. There he began writing music, recording, and simply having fun. Years later, Colton recently was discovered and signed by Extreme Music and Sony ATV. This led to his partnership with producer and musician Aaron Kaplan.
How Colton’s Struggle Produces Passion
Colton revealed one of the challenges in his life that lead to his pursuit of music in a personal interview saying, “My best friend Bryce passed away a few years back. He was the man and working through that has been very hard. I figured I would try hard in music for both of us since he was always there when I was writing my music and would give me his ‘professional’ opinions”. Though this difficult situation inspires Colton’s music he still hopes that fans who listen, “get that ‘out in the country’ feeling I get when I listen to country”. The talent to write about topics both emotionally deep and enthusiastically free is sure to keep Colton on an upward trending path in his career and provide appealing music to a wide range of fans. This artist has seen a unique amount of success even having one of his songs as the theme music for American Idol. He attributes this to the team behind him including producer Aaron Kaplan and sound engineer Ryan Johnson. It is essential for an up and coming artist to have the team structure and vision to support the demands that will be placed on the artist as they progress in their career.
First Major Step
Colton Graves’ first EP has just released and is entitled “Smile for Me”. He provides fans with a glimpse into the enjoyment he gains from writing songs with stories behind each one. These stories combined with the skill that Colton possesses will be the key to his success in a genre that prides itself on storytelling ability.
