Ignite Your Power: How This Yoga Instructor Is Using Ancient Philosophies To Help Yogis Fight For Social Justice

Meet Christa Janine, one yoga instructor using her knowledge of yoga philosophy to educate, empower, and enable her clients to find their voice in the fight for social justice and beyond. As many of us, during the summer of 2020 Christa was infuriated by the police brutality on full display across our nation. However, instead of being complacent or allowing her rage to fester she decided to create a series of workshops centered around diversifying, creating equity, and providing inclusion in both the yoga and fitness industries.

Christa, 500hr RYT | 200hr E-RYT | YACEP®, used her decade of experience as a yoga instructor and lead facilitator to launch not only a successful virtual fitness studio hosting private and sold-out group classes weekly, and life coaching business, but also drew from this experience to create her workshop series.

Christa refers to her series of workshops as The Yoga in Action Social Justice Retreat. The retreat began as a stand alone webinar that focused on diversity and inclusion. However, after the extensive positive feedback and constant request to add more time to the webinar Christa developed the 2-day virtual retreat. The retreat is a series of workshops and conversations centered around how individuals in these industries, both instructors and practitioners, can actively work to create change in the world immediately.

It is designed to help attendees identify where the yoga and fitness industries have space to improve in the realm of diversity and inclusion. They discuss tangible steps that can be used today to make a noticeable change in their community now, while using the fundamental principles of yoga philosophy to help educate and empower them in the fight for social justice.

If you’re looking for a wellness professional that will challenge you both on and off the mat we recommend Christa Janine. She will continuously encourage you to go beneath the surface and dive deep into yourself in order to tap into your true power. She will take you to your edge physically through her Power Yoga Flows and HIIT Yoga group classes, mentally through her life coaching courses, spiritually through her guided meditations, and morally through her Yoga Philosophy & Social Justice workshops. Christa’s mission is to disconnect people from their excuses and reconnect them to their life’s purpose so they feel empowered to be the change they wish to see in the world.
