Interview With Artist Phil Miller

Phil Miller

Hey Phil Miller! Tell us a little about yourself.

“I am 28 years old from Elon, North Carolina. I have been playing music for going on 20 years. I started writing and performing my own music around the age of 16. I released my first 3 song EP, ‘Jamaican Sun’, in 2018. Since then, I have released 3 other singles, ‘One Horse Town’ being the most recent and most popular. Looking forward to releasing at least 6 songs in 2021 with one under my belt so far.”

When did you start music?

“I always had a passion for music, but it really began when started learning the guitar at the age of 9.”

How did you get into music?

“I would say my grandfather had always pushed my brother and I towards discovering our passion for music. When I was three, I remember my grandad buying my brother a banjo and me a harmonica. As years went on, we continued to embrace our passion for music.”

What is the most challenging thing you have overcome in your life?

“The most challenging thing I have overcome in my life was getting a DWI at the age of eighteen, three days before senior baseball tryouts in high school. It was a life-changing experience, to say the least. If it weren’t for that experience, certain things would not have unfolded as they did with my music.”

Are you currently signed or independent?

“I am an Independent Artist.”

Who inspires you the most musically?

“I would say, Randy Travis, George Strait, Jimmy Buffet, and Willie Nelson.”

What do you want people to take away after listening to your music?

“I want to change people’s mood. I want them to feel what I’m feeling. I want them to listen to my song and take the energy with them once the song is over.”

What is your greatest achievement as a musician?

“My greatest achievement thus far, I would say, is writing full-length songs that don’t entirely suck. My greatest achievements are still in front of me.”

Who is one artist you wish you could work with?

“It would be awesome to work with Post Malone.”

Tell us about any new music you have coming out? When is coming out? What is it about?

“I had new music that came out on 5/28/2021. It’s my song ‘Beautiful.’ It is a song that reminds people that if they want to be beautiful, then all they have to be is themselves. No one wants to see someone pretend to be someone they aren’t. Authenticity is beautiful.”
