Interview With Chicago Artist Mello Spazzout

Tell us about your background getting to where you are today?
“I’m from the west side of Chicago in the trenches. I came from trapping in the street when I was younger they took me from my mother and put me and my brother in a foster home but my family got us back later.”
Where are you from?
“West side of Chicago I grew up in the Austin area.”
When did you start music?
“About 8 months ago. I have been rapping just never gone to the studio. I used to just rap on the block with my homie just messing around.”
How did you get into music?
“When my big brother got killed, I used to just go to the studio to express my pain. But my little brother SBG Kemo and my little cousin Pronto Spazzout got me fully involved.”
What is the most challenging thing you have overcome in your life?
“Losing my brothers to the streets and surviving gunshots. When I got hit up close range, but I got shot at 2 times once, 4 times the next time, and 8 times another. Then a few days later my car got shot at, I survived and didn’t get hit at all but my car took a lot of shots.”
Are you currently signed or independent?
“Independent.”
Who inspires you the most musically?
“Lil Durk, Lil Baby, Jay Z, G Herbo, and Polo G.”
What do you want people to take away after listening to your music?
“The pain I’ve been through and what life is like in the streets about how hard it is to survive out here.”
What is your greatest achievement as a musician?
“Overcoming the struggle of getting my fans to feel my music and actually being able to help my family when they need me.”
Who is one artist you wish you could work with?
“Lil Durk, G Herbo, and Polo G.”
Tell us about any new music you have coming out? When is it coming out? What is it about?
“Yes, plenty of it. The music tells my life story. I’ll be dropping music shortly.”
Anything else you want the audience to know about you?
“There is no fake to my rap. I am really out here in the thick of things, I really came from the streets.”
