Executive Voice

Interview with International Special. Music executive, CEO, and Rapper.

I had the pleasure of interviewing International Special. Music executive, CEO, and Rapper.
Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?
Just being around the music industry for years.
Can you share the most interesting story that happened to you since you started your company?
Being in the studio chilling one day, it was decided that we needed to do a remix to Facts. It just felt natural to do the remix then and there. We used our time wisely and made a hit.
Can you share a story about the funniest mistake you made when you were first starting? Can you tell us what lesson you learned from that?
-Trying to make my words rhyme was the funniest. I learned a few things just watching my artist’s in the studio. Taking a chance and going for what you want is a necessity. Life is full of changes and you have to just go for them.
What do you think makes your company stand out? Can you share a story?
-Me. I make my company stand out because of my swag, my personality, and my relationships. I’m humble and have a great personality. Others would say I’m funny and crazy. My uniqueness is a major asset to the company. I’m special.
Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?
-Keep giving everything you do 1000%. Anytime you do something, give it your all. Might need an energy drink but take a 5 or 10 to get through.
None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you to where you are? Can you share a story?
-No, there isn’t a particular person. Networking and building personal relationships helped along the way. Most will want to see you win. I have a team that wants to all win.
How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?
-I’m a person that helps everyone out anyway. It helps for people to be able to see someone who looks like them and comes from where they’re from. People can say, “Special is everywhere with everyone. He grinds.”
Do you have a favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?
-“Kill ‘em with kindness and success.” If you keep your mouth shut, you don’t have to worry about outside opinions or outsiders trying to stop you or stand in your way. Avoid the negativity.
What are your “5 things I wish someone told me before I started my company” and why. Please share a story or example for each.
-I don’t depend on people. I don’t believe in luck. I believe in God. Keep your faith and pray every day. The blessings will come.
-No, there isn’t anything I wish someone had told me. Everything was a learning experience.
You are a person of great influence. If you could start a movement that would bring the most amount of good to the most amount of people, what would that be? You never know what your idea can trigger. 🙂
-Believe in yourself. Never quit…never give up. Jay Z didn’t get signed until he was 28. The older ones are getting it with have longevity like Khalid. Some of the new ones last maybe 2 years in the game.
How can our readers follow you on social media?

This was very inspiring. Thank you so much for joining us!
