Interview With Japanese Artist DANTZ

DANTZ

Hey DANTZ! How are you doing today?

“I am fine.”

Where are you from?

“Yokohama, Japan.”

Tell us about your background getting to where you are today?

“I got my start in music through the jazz club I participated in as a student. I then transferred the love I developed for music into focusing on club music. I began organizing club events when I was 20. At 28, I started performing as a professional DJ at the club ESCAPE in Amsterdam. Since then, I have been releasing my music through a Japanese and European label. I continue to perform in Japan, Asia, and Europe.”

When did you start music?

“Since I was 15 years old.”

How did you get into music?

“Since I wanted to work in both the underground and mainstream industry scene, I started off producing underground club events. I got into the mainstream music industry by directing music videos and directing movies for mainstream artists.”

What is the most challenging thing you have overcome in your life?

“I was working on mixing and mastering my songs in a friend’s engineering studio, and I was bitten by a German Shepherd dog at the studio. When that occurred, my face looked like a victim in a horror movie. I found out the dog’s rabies shots were expired, and I was prepared to die.”

Are you currently signed or independent?

“I launched an independent music label called “lemon soda music” in November 2019 with Ray Kirk.”

What do you want people to take away after listening to your music?

“I want everyone to come into my musical universe and simply feel joy from my songs. In Japan, when I performed as a DJ at a club, the audience was so moved and cried at the end of my performance. I would be satisfied if people can deeply come into my musical universe.”

What is your greatest achievement as a musician?

“Looking towards the future, my greatest achievement will be having a Grammy-winning artist that was born from lemon soda music.”

Tell us about any new music you have coming out? When is it coming out? What is it about?

“I have a new song coming in June. It is called Hangover ft. Ray Kirk and Idris French.”

Anything else you want the audience to know about you?

“My songs are available to listen to online, but I would love to have people come to watch me perform the songs live. Unlike listening to the songs online, it’s a DJ performing that is making you dance more. It has the same meaning of expressing my musical universe to the audience. I hope people enjoy it.”
