Johnny Bermudez Shares the Behind the Scenes of Running a NYC Based Boutique Content Creation Agency During the Pandemic

While the pandemic put many careers on pause, for some, it served as a resting period to encourage motivation and innovation. For Johnny Bermudez, this was certainly the case. As a current TV and film actor, Johnny didn’t sit idle or dormant as productions shut down, he pivoted his creativity toward content creation with his business, Skynet Media

Born and raised in a rough neighborhood in Brooklyn, Johnny began his career as an athlete and aspiring professional baseball player. After a gruesome injury and shoulder surgery cut this dream short, he made his first pivot as he took a shot at Wall Street. He thrived and became a Financial Advisor in the Private Client division of major investment firms, including JP Morgan Chase, Citigroup NA, and Wells Fargo Advisors.

After his stint on Wall Street, Johnny took his talents back to the sports  world, becoming an NFL agent, representing players through the early and late 2000’s. It was here that he continued to bounce back and forth before committing his talents to acting.

“After seeing all the major Hollywood Agencies acquiring Sports Divisions, I lost the love of representing athletes and went back to Wall Street for a few years. It was in 2014 that I finally decided to leave Wall Street forever and become an Actor,” Johnny recalls.

Right after making his big career move, he was accepted into the prestigious two year conservatory at The Maggie Flanigan Studio in New York City. Quickly afterwards, he found representation and began working as a SAG/AFTRA Actor, appearing as a Co-Star in major television shows such as “Law & Order: SVU”, “Bull”, “The Blacklist” and most recently in 2021 “For Life” on ABC.

During the pandemic, however, productions came to a halt. Knowing that his work would quickly disappear due to the global pandemic, Johnny took a step back to reassess, and decided to reapply his creativity to an adjacent industry: content creation.

“During lockdown, I had started a content creation agency, a YouTube channel, and became a certified drone pilot with the FAA all within a few months. Recently I shot a spec commercial for The Rock’s new energy drink, ZOA which he posted on Instagram. It’s been a crazy year for all of us, but I’ve been fortunate to have my health, family and creativity.”

Having this wide level of business experience, pivoting into content creation was a natural next step. The content creation industry was a logical fit for someone like Johnny who is used to being in front of a camera.

“I’m super comfortable with being on camera, so I decided to be behind it as well. I asked myself, why not do both? Lot’s of actors eventually branch out into producing and directing, so knowing that it was possible inspired me to move forward,” Johnny says.

Having followed in the path of others, Johnny is now at a point in his career where he is able to encourage others to follow in his own footsteps. For those looking to start their own business or branch out into a new career, Johnny encourages them to Always Chase Dreams. It’s necessary for the soul to do something you love – otherwise, life can and will pass you by in an instant.

In the coming months, Johnny has much to look forward to. In particular, his content creation business has just signed a collaborator deal with a high end camera brand company and other deals are currently in the works. In the future, his audience will have new content partnership with the camera company to look forward to, as well as many other brand deals with other global brands and companies.

In a crowded space, beyond his new partnerships, Johnny is able to further differentiate himself with his unique experience and outlook on life and business.

“In this world, there is only one you, we are all unique, and I’m living my truth as a free spirit who still believes in humanity,” Johnny says.
