Kristin Alvarez Believes in Self-Growth

People often hear and share stories of immigrants striving for the American dream. Despite the quantity of narratives reaching mainstream platforms, each story remains unique. Kristin Alvarez is the daughter of two immigrants who came to the United States in hopes of a prosperous future. Seeing how much her parents sacrificed to build a life in another country, Kristin strived to succeed in her own way. Today, she is a creative director of Secured Leap, a company helping businesses with various needs from branding guides, logo designs, marketing, and many other solutions.

At an early age, Kristin learned the value of being resourceful and innovative. Due to the language barrier, early on, her parents were not always capable of communicating in their new environment; but the circumstances never stopped them from continuing forward. Kristin witnessed how her parents worked harder whenever there were obstacles and how they managed to solve one problem after another. 

“I learned early on that doing your best and investing in your future will help you succeed,” shared Kristin. Life was not always favorable for their family. But instead of focusing on the problems, they chose to find ways to overcome their challenges. Kristin shared that her parents would always remind her not to wallow in self-pity whenever a problem arises. Instead, they made her understand that people can always choose to get back on their feet and continue where things left off. Since then, she knew how to solve her own problems and work her way through obstacles to reach her goals.

Kristin uses her parents’ teachings in her daily life today. Being meticulous, creative, quick-witted, and ambitious were all traits her parents instilled into her upbringing. “I use my skill to meticulously care for details to bring my best work to everything I do. I have worked as a waitress, a nanny, an appraiser, a personal assistant, and a house manager. I take all my work experiences as skills that I can add to my arsenal of abilities to provide the best level of service to everything I do,” shared Kristin.

Growing up with parents who set incredible examples, Kristin was never one to settle for mediocracy, hence reflecting in the level of dedication she puts into her business venture, Secured Leap.
