Learn How Trevi Pershay Founder Of Trevi Pershay Productions Is Making An Impact In The Community

In a bid to create a platform where Black theater can be showcased, and where black voices will be heard, Trevi Pershay Productions was created. Trevi Pershay Productions is a highly-sought-after entertainment production company whose aim is to inspire men, women, teens, and children to embrace their culture and uniqueness through film, theater, publications, conferences, panel discussions, events, media, and more.

In this article, Trevi Pershay shares with us the inspiration behind her brand and the positive impact that she has made in the community.

What was the inspiration behind Trevi Pershay Productions?

My inspiration to create Trevi Pershay Productions stemmed from my culture. I wanted to develop a platform where Black theater can be showcased, our voices heard, and where we can inspire and shift perspectives while creating thought-provoking content to help us become the change we want to see in the world.

With that being said, I live in New York City and Broadway does not represent us unless you have achieved celebrity status like Tina Turner, Donna Summer, and The Temptations.  However, we can’t overlook the stories that authentically represent our black culture, struggle, pain, mental health, wealth, and triumphs.

Progression and power are far beyond what we see on broadway unless it is directed with close-minded stereotypes of violence, sex, and drugs. Black Culture is not mediocre! Hollywood portrays mediocrity which is why I created a platform to represent our greatness.

What special skills have helped you so far in your journey to success?

I really wouldn’t say I have special skills, I would say my willingness to never quit and ability to manifest my creative thinking into reality contributes to my success. I never went to school for theater and frankly, I thought my writing skills were horrible, especially in college. As a matter of fact, my professor told me I should never consider becoming a writer. To his response, I replied I won’t.

Having a relationship with God changed my entire life! God showed me who I was, what I was capable of doing through him, and pulling out these gifts that I never knew was inside of me.  The one gift that is special to me is my compassion for God’s people.

How do you give back to the community?

I give back to the community through community outreach programs:

  • Worship in the Hood, a program for back to school giveaways which are held every year in Brooklyn, NY (my childhood neighborhood).

  • Making a Difference Award, where I award over 25 people NYC Citations as well as Awards for outstanding community service. The honorees consist of entrepreneurs, overachieving students, teachers, doctors, and so many others are recognized and appreciated for their accomplishments.

  • We have developed partnerships with local NYC high schools to secure laptops for students in underprivileged communities, women shelters to give away theater tickets, and recently with Atlanta Children Services to donate the proceeds from one of our theater productions to help children who live in Shelters.

What roles has Trevi Pershay Productions played during COVID-19?

At Trevi Pershay productions, we are providing job opportunities for minorities. We are actively interviewing stagehands, production assistants, actors, actresses, singers, songwriters, dancers, record labels, small businesses, freelancers, start-ups, graphic designers, and more.
