Welcome, Tian! Tell us about your music and directing journey.

Thank you for having me, I am excited for this interview. I moved to California in 2015 and enrolled into film school and that led me to where I am today.

What do you prefer, directing or music?

I love them both. They are both forms of art and equally refreshing no matter which I am doing.

Do you play any instruments?

I only sing currently but I used to play piano and guitar. Attending music classes throughout the years gave me the tools I needed to write, produce my original music and work with artists.

What drew you to the music industry?

My teachers were the ones who would secretly sign me up for concerts and exams when my mother said no and I am thankful they did. So instead of me having to ask to attend with an obvious no answer they would explain to her that it was mandatory and part of the school curriculum.

Who are you inspired by?

I am inspired by the ones I love and also some art just comes to me out of the blue.

Please explain your creative process.

I usually have a thought and it leads to a beat in my head which then leads to the lyrics. And in terms of scripts those usually play out in my head and then I just transfer the thought to paper.

With over a thousand monthly Spotify listeners, Tian is quickly making a name for herself in the music industry. Her story is one of overcoming adversity and achieving success against all odds. Tian juggles work and motherhood with ease, proving that anything is possible with a little hard work and dedication. Tian’s story is one of inspiration, and she hopes that her story will help others who are facing challenges in their lives.

“I believe my story should be put out there so if anyone is in the situation that I was once in, they will see me as an inspiration and not give up easily,” explained Tian.
