Mahmud Al Smadi Shares His Success Story: How He Rose From a Hairdresser to Owning His A Skincare Brand

So what does it take to build your business from scratch and scale it to the heights of success?

Mahmud Al Smadi is one such entrepreneur who started as a hairdresser with a dream and created one of the most successful Beauty and Skincare brands in Germany. Where Mahmud’s Story Began

Mahmud was born in Jordan but moved to Germany, where he grew up. Mahmud developed an interest and passion for beauty and fashion at an early age. It was burning inside, and he couldn’t deny it, so he pursued the flame.

He knew the beauty industry was his path and destiny and decided to start from the ground. He became a hairdresser at local salons, and at the same time, went on to pursue a Master’s degree in cosmetology. He worked as a salon manager and a hairstylist in the best salons in the country and gathered over 15 years of experience in the beauty world.

From Hairdressing to Nourished3 Skincare Brand

While working as a hairstylist and model, Mahmud noticed early he had a keen love for detail and an eye for superior aesthetics. Having worked with top German celebrities who loved and praised his work, he knew his breakthrough was imminent. All signs pointed him towards creating his brand or product to help people around him.

“I didn’t know my desire to solve people’s beauty needs would be inspired by the closest person to me,” recounts Mahmud.

He was referring to his business partner Annie Jaffrey. He’d watched her struggle with skin issues trying to find the right approach to get the perfect skin. They realized there could be more people out there who needed to get their skin issues under control. That’s where Nourished3’s journey began. Nourished3 was born to solve three basic beauty needs:

  • External skincare.
  • Inner nourishment through health supplements.
  • Healthy mental well-being.

Nourished3 wasn’t meant to be your ordinary skincare product. The intention was to develop a line of products that could solve real skin issues. Mahmud and his wife Annie offer lifestyle tips and guide their clients on achieving healthy skin via their Nourished3 IG account.

Mahmud asserts that growing a business from scratch takes courage, determination, and lots of hard work. He tells us how he had to make a lot of sacrifices and get out of his comfort zone to make Nourished3 a reality.

Since 2020, Nourished3 has developed four main products;

  2. A Face Mask Application Brush.

“Be personally and deeply involved in building your business, don’t leave it to others, but rather show them how you want the result to be,” says Mahmud.

Besides being the co-founder of Nourished3, Mahmud is the product’s packaging and design developer and is in charge of all sales processes. He also oversees the holistic brand awareness, growth, and distribution of his products into the retail market. It’s all about communicating your vision to your team by leading from the front. He doesn’t have people to do that, but he explains that getting involved makes your team feel the connection between their work and your vision. When the brand sells, they win too.
