Women Who Disrupt

Marlene Lopez is Spreading Financial Literacy Through Her Agency Freedom Financial

Marlene Lopez grew up in poverty in Compton, CA and promised herself that she would change that fact for her future family and others. This pursuit has led her to owning a financial service agency. She explains in a personal interview, “I saw the opportunity to see what was able to be done for me and I wanted to spread the word and share the knowledge of financial literacy to people I know and help them with these life changing experiences.” Through Freedom Financial, Marlene can shop the market for clients regarding any financial needs and give them the best products for the best prices. She secures financial needs, assists in meeting requirement goals, helps with term/perm life insurance and offers 401k plans for the business to provide to employees.

In the same interview, Marlene explained the message she hopes people take away from her agency. She relates, “If its anything I can do for my clients, is that I want them to be prepared for the unexpected. I’d like for my audience to know there is a way to protect their money from the downside of the market. Everyone needs something for retirement and if your job does not offer it, please know that I can go and speak to the employer to help in that situation. Finally, the trust that builds with helping each family or individual is the best feeling.” Relationship is the basis for the trust she builds with clients. It is more than a business transaction, but instead, a conversation that allows for a foundation of understanding to be built. Additionally, Marlene sets her agency apart from the market by being able to shop the financial companies for her clients as she has a large platform of financial industries.

As Freedom Financial and its owner lead the financial service industry, they also give back to other young entrepreneurs. Marlene gives some advice to young entrepreneurs following her path saying, “Even when no one is counting on you to succeed, when the people closest to you think you won’t make it, turn around and prove yourself right! You’re doing this for you and no one else. Your dreams are not big enough if your friends are not laughing at you. Be someone who was born to stand out in a world where everyone wants to fit in. Stay focused and have your clear vision.” She relates that motivation is the biggest factor in becoming successful. It takes “having a clear vision of your dreams and goal and what you want to ultimately accomplish in your business.”

In the coming years, Marlene envisions Freedom Financial taking the industry to new heights. “I see a successful entrepreneur woman leading everyone else around her to victory. In the next five years, I will still be building my business. Growth never stops,” she emphasizes about the future. The path appears to be up for this dedicated owner and resilient team. As the financial outlook of the world constantly changes, Freedom Financial is set to give people the understanding and security they need to thrive.
