Meet Justin Holder, Better Known As Rasta Man Jay

Justin Holder has been around music since the beginning. As far as he can remember, he began to freestyle at as early as 12 years old. It has always been his dream to be a rapper. Growing up listening to various types of hip hop, Holder was mainly inspired by the sound of Juicy J, Wiz Khalifa, and Young Jeezy. He’s been releasing music exclusively on Soundcloud, consistently dropping new content for his followers.
Since his debut to the platform less than 30 days ago, Rasta Man Jay has been streamed hundreds of times in a short amount of time. Recently the upcoming MC has been on his grind, sometimes even releasing multiple tracks in one day. The artist is currently based out of Georgia, looking to take his artistry to the next level.
Rasta Man Jay just dropped a new track on his Soundcloud called “You Only Got Yourself.” The track marked his 16th drop on the platform to this date. Check out our interview with the artist below.

Hi, Justin Holder aka Rasta Man Jay! How are you?
“Doing good, trying to go global!”
Where are you from?
“Brunswick, Georgia.”
When did you start music?
“I started music a couple of years ago but just recently started pushing it more.”
How did you get into music?
I started listening to instrumentals and started writing rhymes and punch lines and overall just fell in love with the art form.”
What do you want people to take away after listening to your music?
“After listening to my music you will hear and feel a lot of the stuff I go through in my everyday life, living as a black man trying to succeed with the real talent I have.”
Who inspires you the most musically?
“I grew up listening to Juicy J, Wiz Khalifa, and Young Jeezy, so I’d have to say those artists.”
What is your greatest inspiration for your music?
“I would say being able to say you made it and you don’t have to ask anybody for anything.”
What is the most challenging thing you have overcome in your life?
“The most challenging thing I have overcome in my life would be me getting heard. Because most people do not support my movement in my city.”
Any new music coming out soon?
“Yes, I’m always working on some hits.”
