Mihyon D. Cha Teaches as One of the Most Qualified Artists in America

Mihyon Cha is a combat veteran turned beauty pro. After three combat tours, she decided it was time to leave the US Navy Seabees. While in the military, she used her opportunity to travel the world while learning all the different types of tattooing techniques.
She learned to tattoo because she didn’t have money for beer. So her payment for tattooing was . . . beer to enjoy after work—a Coors Light 36 pack, to be precise! Tattooing hundreds of military guys and gals, she gained a lot of experience and improved her skills.
When she got out, the only things she had left were post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), plumbing skills learned from the Seabees and tattooing. So, naturally, she decided to pursue tattooing. After ten years of practice, she started teaching as one of the most qualified artists in America.
Cha has achieved many successes, including becoming a training member for the Society of Permanent Cosmetic Professionals (SPCP), a training member for the American Academy of Micropigmentation (AAM), and a licensed instructor for the New York State Department of Education for Esthetics.
She is the most certified permanent make-up instructor in the world. She learned every technique in her industry and got certified in all aspects of her vocation. In this way, she made a name for herself in the industry.
To get where she is now, Cha overcame many obstacles. When she started, no certifications or licenses were available in the field. She kept on inquiring about and looking into ways to receive more education. Finally, New York State added an instructor’s license for all the needed courses. She put in a lot of effort to get all the certifications required, whereas most other schools teach without licenses/credentials.
Her unique advice within her industry is to understand that learning can be expensive. If you are going to invest in your career, make sure you are going to a school that is recognized, not only by the permanent make-up associations but also by the department of education in that state. If not, your certification might not be worth anything.
