Organic Juices – What You Could Be Doing Wrong While Juicing At Home

When done correctly, juicing may provide a significant boost to your health. However, when done incorrectly, you negate the possible benefits of a juice cleanse. For example, instead of losing weight, you may unintentionally gain weight! Gulping down the juice, on the other hand, might result in gastrointestinal distress. The ideal approach is to not only acquire a good juicer but also to know what not to do.

Juicing at home might be a simple and useful method to receive your daily dosage of fruits and vegetables, but before you go for the juicer, read on to learn about the most frequent juicing at-home mistakes.

Not cleaning your fruits properly

Pesticides aren’t tasty, but that’s not the worst of it. When you peel and cut your fruits and vegetables, bacteria can readily travel to your product from the surface. There is no need to wash your fruits with expensive soaps or washes. Simply running them under hot water will ensure that you are getting clean and healthy juice.

Waiting too long before consuming your juice

You may have noticed that freshly sliced fruits and vegetables change color when exposed to air. Natural compounds and vitamins are broken down when exposed to air, light, and heat. To get the most bang for your buck, consume your freshly produced juice as soon as it is ready to reap the full benefit.

At worst, you can preserve your juice in the fridge for 24 to 48 hours in an airtight glass container. During this time, it will still be drinkable, but the longer you wait, the more nutrients you will lose. Also, because fresh juice is unpasteurized, it spoils significantly faster than store-bought juice.

Not adding vegetables

Fruit juice is tasty, but don’t overlook the significant sugar level that contributes to the taste. Yes, fructose is healthier than refined sugar, but it should be used in moderation. To add a burst of additional flavor to organic juices, add some veggies like celery or ginger. However, keep your rations balanced to prevent increasing your blood sugar levels.

As a general rule, aim to add 40% fruits and 60% vegetables into your homemade juice. The more green the base juice, the better. Kale and spinach, for example, are flavorless and high in chlorophyll, calcium, and iron.

Drinking your organic juice with a meal

It is usually preferable to consume your juice on an empty stomach so that your digestive system can fully absorb all of the nutrients. Your juicing benefits are lessened if consumed during or immediately after a meal.

A full stomach prevents minerals and vitamins from being absorbed directly into your circulation. A decent rule of thumb is to wait at least two hours between meals and 20 minutes after your juice. The optimal time to consume juice is before breakfast, although you can drink it between meals if your energy levels are low.

Not drinking enough water

We all know that water accounts for two-thirds of our body weight. Simply because you are juicing or on a juice cleanse does not mean that the juice will replace your daily water intake.
Drink plenty of water to let the juice accomplish its job of draining toxins out of your system. Staying hydrated can also help you avoid headaches and exhaustion, which are normal side effects of a good juice cleanse.

Storing your juices in plastic containers

As previously said, you should consume your juice as soon as possible. However, if you must store your juice in the refrigerator, choose a glass container with a snug and airtight cover. Even better, choose a smaller container that you can easily fill. This will avoid unnecessary oxidation.
Most plastic containers are not airtight and contain hazardous chemicals such as BPA (Bisphenol A), which slowly leach into food. According to research, BPA in the bloodstream interferes with hormone release.

Taking too much caffeine

The fewer stimulants in your system, the higher the health advantages of juicing. You may be reliant on caffeine, especially in the mornings, but as your body absorbs more nutrients from the juice, you may discover that you don’t need that cup of coffee to get you going.
You don’t have to give up your beloved cup of coffee but retain it as a guilty pleasure instead. You can accompany your coffee consumption with teas.

  

Not changing your diet

If you are juicing to lose weight then your diet also needs to change. Juicing is an excellent method to receive your daily dosage of minerals and vitamins, but it is not a cure-for-all. You want to keep your energy levels and increased zeal after you’ve boosted your system with juice.
That entails making a few long-term dietary modifications. Increase your intake of whole foods, salads, soups, legumes, and steamed or raw vegetables gradually, while reducing your intake of animal protein.

Drinking your juice too quickly

We’ve already discussed the agony of stomach pains that await you if you gulp down your juice in a few seconds, but there’s another reason to sip your drink. Drinking your juice at leisure, like dining slowly, aids digestion and allows for maximum vitamin and mineral absorption.
