Professor Lingyun Xiang Was Appointed As The Chief Economic Advisor Of The Embassy Of The Republic Of Haiti In China.

On January 31, 2023, Dwinel BELIZARE, the Ambassador of the Republic of Haiti to China, on behalf of the Embassy of the Republic of Haiti in China, appointed professor Xiang Lingyun, an economist based in the United States, as the special chief economic advisor of the Embassy of the Republic of Haiti in China.

The Republic of Haiti, known as Haiti, is located in the northern Caribbean, west of Hispaniola (Haiti Island). It borders the Dominican Republic to the east, the Caribbean Sea to the south, the Atlantic Ocean to the north, and Cuba and Jamaica to the west. Haiti is divided into 10 provinces, 42 districts under the provinces in total, and 144 towns under the districts, and the capital of Haiti is Port-au-Prince. In 2021, Haiti has a population of 11.91 million, 95% of whom are black.

Haiti is the first independent nation of Latin America and the first black republic in the world. It is one of the least developed countries in Latin America. Its economy is mainly based on agriculture and depends on foreign assistance. Domestic political turmoil, the new crown pneumonia epidemic, and natural disasters have had a significant negative impact on Haiti’s economy. Prices have soared, unemployment has increased, and people’s lives become difficult. In 2021, the GDP was 21.02 billion US dollars, the per capita GDP was 1770 US dollars, and the GDP growth rate was -1.8%.

Haiti has no diplomatic relations with the People’s Republic of China. It is a member of the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the World Trade Organization, the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States, the Inter-American Development Bank, and the Caribbean Community. More than 30 international and regional organizations have permanent offices in Haiti. The international community has provided economic assistance to Haiti for a long time.

Dwinel BELIZARE said that Haiti is one of the poorest countries in the world, 75% of the people live in abject poverty, and only 20% of the residents in the country have access to running water. The illiteracy rate is 47%. The decision of appointing Professor Lingyun Xiang, an economist based in the United States, as the chief economic advisor is an important measure to help the economic construction of Haiti, develop tourism, and promote trade. It is also the driving force and hopes to promote the economic development of the Latin American Community.

Professor Lingyun Xiang is an American economist, a famous investor, an international certified accountant, an American certified forensic accountant, the Marquis of San Prospero, the world’s outstanding Chinese, an image ambassador for global diplomats, an overseas image ambassador of Chinese enterprises, the best leader in the financial industry, a senior financial risk management consultant, Peking University Boya special-term Professor, and Lei Feng national advanced individual, visiting professor of Decision-Making China Expert Think Tank, Member of IAAP, Member of AAIA, Special Economic Advisor to the Embassy of the Central African Republic in China.
