Executive Voice

From Day Jobs To Music To Media; Phillip Ryan Block Beats the Norm to ‘A Dream Come True’

Phillip Ryan Block started his career like most of us. From doing door to door sales to consulting, to eventually starting his businesses. And like most of us, it is not usually a walk in the park. Ryan was determined to do whatever it takes for him to succeed. Now he has established multiple enterprises in the music industry, marketing, and mental health.

Ryan is a multi-faceted and dynamic leader who has worked hard to shape his path to success. He currently runs the Independent Ear Music Group. He also manages We The Collective, a marketing agency, and the Open Heart Collective championing mental health awareness in communities. Through his journey, you get to know what it takes to make your dreams come true.

Never Be Afraid To Pursue Your Dreams

When Ryan started his music record label company, he did not have the means or the best knowledge to do so. He believed in two things; one, that the music industry was flawed and two; that businesses are built on trust and relationships. He was determined to make a difference in the music industry and moved on to create a business from scratch, based on what he believed.

Today, his record label, Independent Ear Music Group, is working with multiple artists who have had their own storied journeys. It’s now nine years since he created his record label, and feels the journey is just beginning.

Be Ready To Embrace Changes

With the world around us changing so fast, entrepreneurs have to adjust to the changes to succeed in their businesses.

For Ryan, it has been a combination of being able to analyze, project, and act on different business models. Not every business model will fit all, and for him, being able to adapt to these changes in the business world made it necessary to test and learn, while implementing ideas that work.

Building Relationships Is Important

Ryan truly believes that businesses are built on relationships. For him, it is about investing in others, and thinking about others besides yourself. Currently, his record label invests the majority of its revenue back to the artists. The successes of the artists that he works with only contribute to his fruition of dreams to change the music industry. According to Ryan, ‘when you make it not about yourself, amazing things happen.’

You Have To Put In The Work

For you to realize your dreams, you have to put in the necessary work. Ryan has had to work hard in a range of jobs to get to where he is now. He encourages his artists to do the same. He is more than committed to supporting artists who put their best foot forward and do what it takes to reach their dreams.

Passion Is Key

Ryan’s journey is a clear manifestation that you have to have a passion for achieving your dreams. He started a music label with nothing but a strong desire to make a positive impact in an industry that is overly disheveled. His work in creating awareness about mental health is another example of his passion for contributing and building positive relationships. For Ryan, his love for music and making a positive impact has seen him do great things that were only a dream nine years ago.

You Will Need To Be Persistent

For you to succeed in this world, you have to be persistent in pursuing your dreams. Ryan tried multiple businesses that failed, but he did not give up. He is also persistent in chasing his dreams of contributing positively to the world. Ryan has had to adjust his decisions and connect with different people to make his goals a reality. After all, for him, it is not about himself, but about what he can do for others. Through others, he can see the changes that he wants to make in this world. You will face obstacles along the way, but you have to work together to find solutions and overcome challenges in life that would otherwise hinder you from achieving your dreams.
