Social Media Secrets with Kris Lal, Entrepreneur and Growth Expert

In 2017 Kris Lal left a career in luxury industry to pursue his passion of social media and all things digital. Since then Curatorsocial has become an authority in social influence, scaling worldwide campaigns with iconic brands and changing the way they influence online.
What made you decide to start Curatorsocial?
I had spent over a decade in the music and luxury goods market, I found myself drawn to social media and the speed at which the channel was growing and allowing diverse talent, brands and voices to be heard like never before. I was also drawn to the fact that you could hone in on really maximising an ROI on spend at the click of a few buttons. Brands were approaching me directly to freelance and offer them strategic advice. Things snowballed from there and my first client was a major airline where I pitched one of their most successful campaigns on socials to date, four years later without absolutely no ad spend we’ve managed to grow by word of mouth and client recommendations, I’m extremely lucky that I get to do what I love every day!
How you start your career?
My career began with music production and management where I was able to collaborate with Urban music royalty including Grammy Award winning platinum artists Chingy and Tboz of TLC fame. I ventured into the luxury industry post music, where I developed a passion for branding and digital culture. I founded Curatorsocial.com in 2017 and have not looked back since!
What is one secret you can share about social media growth?
Meaningful growth takes time, however there are shortcuts which you can take which will still scale your journey on socials exponentially. Some of these include targeted loop giveaways, DM marketing, and good old fashioned shout outs (they still do work with the right profiles). Often brands forget a shout out (which can be much cheaper than a sponsored post) can yield similar results in terms of engagement. We are launching a growth initiative for influencers via Curatorsocial who are interested in targeted, authentic growth for their profiles.
What advice do you have for upcoming entrepreneurs and influencers?
Do what you love doing, focus on what makes you happy as opposed to what makes money in the moment. Also whatever you do, remember you are your brand, be humble in your approach and relentless with your grind.
