Supporting Income While In Active Duty: The Story Of Tim Kelly

A true embodiment of a family man, Tim Kelly keeps his values close in both his personal and professional lives. As a real estate mogul, he specializes in owning and operating multi-family real estate. His success has allowed him to support his family, and he’s proud to have been able to spread his expertise to others so they can do the same.

From real estate investor and educator, to best-selling author and speaker, and finally, a veteran of 15 years of service in the US Navy as a Chief Petty Officer, Tim really has done it all. Now, his latest achievement is reaching financial freedom through his real estate investing and business.

“I have been investing in real estate since 2011 where I purchased my first single family residence with the intention of forcing appreciation and flipping for a profit. That was also my first “house-hack,” and I quickly learned the benefits of long-term buy and hold real estate were much more aligned with my goals,” Tim says.

Through analyzing hundreds of multi-family properties, Tim has built an incredible network of real estate professionals, owns, controls, or has directly been involved in over 1,200 income producing units and looks forward to acquiring 5,000 multi-family units within the next three years.

Tim attributes his successful mindset to his years of training in the military, which made him value teamwork, discipline, and grit, all of which are vital in the real estate investing space.

Before the pandemic, Tim was ahead of the curve, valuing a job that would give him the flexibility to work from home. A big motivation for him was a career that would support him remotely, and where he would never have to request time off to travel.

Although he’s found flexible fulfilment in his current career, Tim will be the first to admit it didn’t come easy, much like anything worth doing. Firstly, it’s important to find initial momentum to get started. While this sounds simple, Tim and many other entrepreneurs know how difficult this can be. Along with that, it’s important to build the right team, including partners, mentors, and advisors. All levels of your close collaborators will direct your business, and so Tim points out they must be chosen with care.

Relationships are something Tim puts an incredible amount of value in.

“I believe success is determined by the quality of one’s relationships,” Tim says.

In Tim’s eyes, success cannot be measured by money, fame, travel, or even time. After all, these values are nothing when you have no one to share them with.

“Would it matter? Would there be true fulfillment? Spending extra time on the relationships we have with the people that matter most will result in real success,” Tim says.

His emphasis on personal relationships truly shines through in the way Tim conducts business, and the success he has gained over the years.

In the next year, Tim’s company is set to acquire 4 to 5 large multi family properties, both apartment communities and mobile home communities. These acquisitions will not only build generational wealth for all parties involved, but they will allow Tim to help hundreds of military families get on the path to achieving their goals of financial freedom.

“My success came to me because I had faith. Because I had grit and tenacity. Because I just kept learning, and networking, and taking action. Now I can make this world a better place and take more people under my wing as I continue to crush through barriers and goals,” Tim outlines.
