In this increasingly hectic world, it is easy to get lost in-between the noise and lose track of our focus and vision. Most of us have experienced a loss of motivation and focus, if even for a short period of time. The problem arises when we linger in such a state and eventually find ourselves on a path without direction, a path which most probably leads nowhere.
Yet with a new year just starting, it would be wise to consider a reassessment to our goals and life purpose. At the end, we only get one life and it would be worth considering to make the most out of it . This is where coaching and mentoring is helpful and where coach and educator Lara Darwish comes in. Lara Darwish is a life coach and educator, who provides guidance on several topics such as self-awareness, relationships, emotional intelligence, leadership, and life strategies, that help her clients as per her, “ connect with their being and live their best lives!”
In the recent years, coaching is a term that is tossed around rather too often, and life coaches have become so common, that scepticism has arisen around them.
“Not everyone who has obtained a coaching certificated is a life coach. Coaching is a discipline, it´s an art, and the first step towards being a successful coach is going through a training from accredited and recognized institutions.”
Lara argues that a market over saturated with coaching courses and coaches has called many to doubt the efficacy of coaching. She then adds that one major problem is rather the lack of clear understanding of what coaching is.
“ Many people think that coaches have traced plans and guides to every problem to which they provide advice to. This is totally wrong. A well trained coach knows that giving advice is usually based on personal perception and values and those could be biased. What a real coach does, is detect areas of change and limited beliefs that hinder the client´s growth, then through powerful conversations and challenging questions, pushes the client outside of their comfort zone and helps them see and explore all the possibilities in their life.”
When asked why she chose such an unconventional career path? She stated that It all went back to who she is as a person and her life story. She then adds that dealing with pain and loss gives life a different perspective, something that pushed her to embark on this journey of over 10 years of training and preparation, of self-improvement, and self-discovery.
“ It is a never ending process, being a life coach means to never stop learning and preparing myself, just like being an educator. It is a lifelong process that is thrilling and exciting, and I have personally found great purpose in sharing the things I learn and helping others set on their path of personal growth.”
This coupled with a lifelong passion for speaking especially on public platforms, is what finally pushed her on this career path. Today she uses her own voice and story to inspire her clients, and bring hope to those who listen to her motivational talks.
“I have had the pleasure of attending several of Lara’s talks on personal development and leadership skills. Like all other participants, I have been consistently impressed by the quality and depth of information she presented. Lara does an incredible job at using science-based facts to illustrate new concepts related to her field. She also connects with her audience and uses powerful storytelling to maximize the benefits of her talks. I am eagerly waiting to attend more of Lara’s talks and highly recommend her.”
