Women Who Disrupt
What Inspired Melitsa Waage To Start A Mission That Will Change Millions Of Lives
Life, at times, has unique ways of taking us where we’re meant to go. For some, it can be a straight, easy path. But others have to deal with unfortunate events before they realize their purpose on earth. Yet, it is that experience of rising above adversity that helps individuals stand out from the crowd.
One example is Melitsa Waage, the founder and CEO of Epic Talks, the leading network events company in South Florida.
Before she became the empowered woman that she is today, Melitsa had to experience a rough patch in her life. But because she was determined to change her life around, Melitsa found the calling that eventually became her mission.
Saving Herself
Epic Talks was born from one of the hardest places in Melitsa’s life. After a horrible betrayal and divorce, she went deep into self-destruction. Melitsa spent two years harboring the victim mentality. It all changed when she stumbled upon a Facebook ad that promoted self-development.
“I fell in love with the work I had done to transform my life! I fell in love with the energy of wanting a better life and creating the life of my dreams,” Melitsa said.
Melitsa also saw how capable she is as a person, especially since she managed to get herself out of the gutter that she was in.
“I was done living a life of mediocrity. I envisioned my future self and what she looked like, and what she did, and I made it my mission to get inspired by her every day,” she said.
But Melitsa didn’t want to keep this self-development to herself. Since then, she promised herself that she would change millions of lives by introducing them to emotional intelligence.
“This is my mission to help heal hearts and help people step into the best version of themselves! I’m so blessed I get to do this work in this world,” she said.
Some Tips Against Burnout
Now that Melitsa has started her mission of helping others overcome adversity, she’s making sure that she stays in top shape and keeps herself from getting burned out.
“Burnout comes from overdoing, no clarity, no strategic plan, and lack of vision,” she said.
And Melitsa is not the type of person to lack clarity, a strategic plan, and a vision.
“There are systems and processes you can create in your life to avoid burnout. I would first have them get crystal clear on the vision for their life or business. Set realistic goals–start with seven-day goals, 30-day goals, and 90-day goals,” she advised.
Having a crystal clear vision of life or career is also how Melitsa encourages others to live their best life. By picturing themselves in a better situation, they know what they have to work towards, thus giving them a renewed sense of purpose.
