Amar Syal Is Changing The Way The Music Industry Works

I recently sat down with music executive and investor Amar Syal to discuss everything from his new app Pryme, his involvement managing Ovo artist Smiley and his real estate investment tips. He is currently the Principal Marketing Lead at Amazon Music and hos past jobs include the Walt Disney Company, Myspace, Fox and Warner Music Group.

Amar Syal continues his grind as one of the most influential people in the digital world of music. In 2015 and his brother Aman Syal were early seed investors in both Myspace and Create Music Group (California’s fastest growing company for 2018 at $28M profit)– and he has been the major player expanding the streaming world in India.

Amar got as start doing the digital marketing at age 15 for Snoop Dogg’s Doggystyle Records, and he currently spends his days as the principal marketing lead at Amazon Music. However, that doesn’t leave him content.

Amar and his twin brother Aman Syal’s new venture Pryme is changing the way artists and managers work. The company is an artist management and music distribution company. They also do artist development, marketing and branding.

According to Amar, “Pryme is our music distribution and management company. We started this in 2020 due to a lack of experiences entertainment managers who understand streaming royalties and the music business.”

One artist Amar manages under Pryme is Ovo artist Smiley. Beyond the streaming work Amar works with Smiley on his Motivation Monday videos that go viral on TikTok.

Amar has opened doors for millions of artists who would like to persuade their careers in this field and take up music-making and create wonders with their music to make a mark on the world.

One piece of advice Amar has for other entertainment hopefuls, “Invest your earnings in real estate, you’ll never go wrong. It opens up a future of income for you and your family, and will build value over time. Start small, any investment is a win.”

Amar and Aman also own $12 million dollars worth of residential properties in Los Angeles which include single family homes and recording studios.

The interview below:

Who or what inspired you to get into the music industry?
Amar: The godfather of the west coast .. Snoop Dogg. We met snoop along with the rest of the doggystyle family when i was 15. I ran their online marketing for Doggystyle records, that was my first gig in entertainment.

Who were your favorite artists growing up?
Amar: Snoop, Dr. Dre, Eminem, Lil Wayne, Ludacris

What led to you and your brothers partnership with Create Music Group?
Amar:  We had a chance to meet the owners at an infancy stage and lovers and energy and company culture. It was an automatic fit for us, as we were looking to get back into the online music business.

You currently co-manage Ovo artist Smiley, how did that relationship come about?
Amar: Attended one of his music video shoots and built our friendship from there. Then we started connecting with other OVO partners and things fell into play.

What are your goals for Smiley as an artist and what are your highlights?
Amar: Smiley brings a new wave and energy to music, including his Motivation Monday videos that go viral on TikTok. We love his positive attitude to music, and it reflects well with his movement. We are excited to see his development from now and many years to come.

Tell us more about your venture Pryme Music?
Amar: Pryme is our music distribution and management company. We started this in 2020 due to a lack of experiences entertainment managers who understand streaming royalties and the music business.

You are heavy into real estate, what advice would you give to other aspiring artists trying to build capital?
Amar: Invest your earnings in real estate, you’ll never go wrong. It opens up a future of income for you and your family, and will build value over time. Start small, any investment is a win.

What are your 1 year goals in entertainment and business?
Amar: My goal is to continue to develop our real estate and entertainment management companies. I also would love to inspire the youth and show them there’s many ways to generate income from the music and marketing business.

What are your other goals in life?
Amar: I would love to invest in foreign real estate markets, and help provide housing for those who are less fortunate. I am blessed to live in sunny Los Angeles and was able to learn the real estate market here. Looking to take the knowledge I have here and apply it worldwide in real estate investments.
