British Pop Producer Scott the Pisces On Manifestation, Goals, and Holding Yourself Accountable

scott the pisces

Young rising star Scott the Pisces sits down to discuss self development, and the importance of being a role model for yourself. Taking a moment to step away from his typical routine of creating incredible music, Scott shares his unique perspective in hopes to inspire others to do better. Without further ado, here’s what the bright budding lad had to say.

I believe it’s important to have aspirations in life. Nothing is duller than a person who’s been given the chance to have a human experience, yet goes through it blindly with no sense of direction. Without a dream, goals, or aspirations, you’re allowing the external world to dictate your entire existence. Your life is no longer yours to live, you’re not living, you’re simply existing. If you find yourself in a position similar to this, then it may be time to start holding yourself accountable for the direction your life is heading. Our time on this planet is very limited, and despite most of us going through it as if we have an abundance of time, there will come a day when we’re no longer here to appreciate it.

I do consider myself lucky to have discovered my passions at an early age. I believe that being able to explore different avenues as a kid really gave me a good range of paths I could venture as I grew. I understand that for many, the option to explore creativity as a child may not have been as present; environment and circumstance play a huge factor in how we choose to operate as adults. However, as adults we are responsible for our own actions. It’s absolutely a choice to continue to act out based on how you were raised. We are free-thinking, ever changing beings, you’re not supposed to be who you were yesterday. If you are, then it’s no one’s fault but your own.

I know there are plenty of people out there who’s ego’s are firing up hearing this, believing ‘I Am Who I Am’; happy to play the victim in their Greek tragedy called life. Hate to break it to you, but if you are reading this then you have access to the internet, you literally have the most useful tool in our existence at your fingertips. All of the things you couldn’t experience as a child, you now can. Avenues you couldn’t explore, passions you were never able to discover are a click away. Instead of wasting your time using it as a tool for procrastination, use it to better yourself. I guarantee if you didn’t feel like you had a sense of direction before, you most certainly will find something that sparks it.

For those who entered this already knowing what they want to do in life, thank you for sticking around while I reality check those in limbo. I feel it’s important to hold a mirror up to ourselves from time to time, even if it leaves us feeling uncomfortable. You might not like what you see, but it’s real, and it’s a critical point of reference for moving forward. You can’t hold yourself accountable if you don’t see a problem right? We all need to be conscious of our behaviors, actions, beliefs and remain objective.

Even if you know what you want in life, are driven to get it, it’s your passion; your reason for living, there are times you’ll find yourself straying. Life comes in waves of energy, sometimes we feel super inspired, and others all we want to do is procrastinate. Although it’s a natural cycle, if left unchecked we can find ourselves falling into bad habits which eventually become how we operate. Setting goals is a really good way of keeping track of what we want to accomplish, simple reminders of why we do what we do. It’s even better if we set deadlines to motivate ourselves to push further in completing our goals. When listing huge goals, sprinkle in a bunch of smaller goals you can achieve. The feeling of ticking off those smaller ones along the journey will help keep you motivated. The act of setting and completing goals will lead to developing discipline within you. The hard part however, is maintaining that discipline. This is where project / mood boards can really shine.

The notion of creating a board full of images that relate to the life you’ve always wanted may seem silly at first, like some wishy washy Law of Attraction ‘woo’,  but trust me it’s a brilliant tool for keeping focused. A lot of the time when we fall off track from chasing our goals, we’re simply finding ourselves distracted by other things. Having a reminder of your dreams posted up on a wall can quickly pull you back into reality, to seeing the bigger picture; You’re not where you want to be, and you’re not currently taking the steps to pursue where you wish to go. I like to think of it as having my self made environment coaching me to do better. I can barely pick up a games controller without seeing my vision board staring back at me, and immediately feeling guilty. Only you are responsible for the actions to take each day towards being who/where you want to be. Hold yourself accountable.

To all of you who didn’t get thrown off by the mentioning of the Law of Attraction, then you’re probably already aware of how manifestation works in a similar way. I presume that now you may already be considering creating a vision board of your own, if you haven’t already. Some tips that coincide with the principles of the LoA; Compile a range of images that make you feel excited about your dreams, the end goals, the steps you want to see happening. Ideally you want to be able to look at the board throughout the day/week and feel that same excitement. This will only encourage you to step closer to achieving your goals. Find time in your routine to meditate on your vision, take inspiration from the images you’ve posted up and imagine what it would be like to have accomplished those aspirations, how it would feel. Even if you don’t believe in manifestation, the exercise alone will have you feeling positive about the path you’re taking.

Make sure to remind yourself daily what it is that you’re looking to accomplish, and why you choose to pursue it. Never lose sight of your dreams. The world can have us feeling hopeless at times, it’s important that we recognise the gift of life we all share; to cherish and make the most of it while we are here.
