Joshua Salins – The Hobby Man of India.

Hobby is something you enjoy doing, that assuages your soul & lightens the spark of excitement in you. Hobbies make one’s life engrossing and diverting. In chasing a hobby one enjoys the process of learning through doing. Have you ever pondered that hobbies can also be a source of income or your full time business? There are numerous people who have chosen to make their hobby pay rather than inveterate into a routine job. And one of them is Joshua Salins. Joshua turned his hobbies into his profession and is now engaged in feathering peoples’ hobbies as well. He started the first ever ‘Hobby Tech’ startup named “The Hobby Tribe” to show his passion to the world and to create a platform to provide a career path for hobby enthusiasts and true artists. Joshua says, ” I play multiple instruments, I sing, write songs, poetry, love art & craft and theater. Creating The Hobby Tribe was bringing my passion out to the world.  Since we were the first pioneers in this field, we termed it The Hobby Tech sector. As I was heading this entire operation, they Nicknamed me the Hobby Man.”

Joshua never wanted to be an entrepreneur but it is only what God approves and what is written in our destiny. Joshua did his schooling from Don Bosco High School, Matunga, then he took the science stream to further pursue engineering but God had different plans for him. In school, he was heavily involved in extracurricular activities which fuelled his hobby learning desire and from there the path of success started which he was even unaware about. School was the place that molded all his talents and led him to success. Joshua avows, ” Maybe business runs in my blood because I come from a business centric family. My dad, my grand dad and my great grand dad were all very successful entrepreneurs. But a huge credit goes to my dad who taught me the value of money and Independence.”

This whole transition of Joshua from engineer to entrepreneur has been incredibly amazing.

When asked about his favorite aspect of being an entrepreneur, he replies, ” Satisfaction, Satisfaction of knowing that I am making a difference in someone’s life. At the Hobby Tribe, hobby enthusiasts, artists, musicians are creating a career doing what they love. We are breaking social norms where it is no longer taboo to follow a career being a musician or an artist. The real high is changing the world.”

Here are the top five skills to become a successful entrepreneur by The Hobby Man of India:-

1) Curiosity – Always on the lookout to find what, why, how the things happen so that you can find opportunities.

2) Strategic thinking – Find new and better ways to grow, acquire customers, leverage other platforms by partnering with them strategically.

3) Being an extrovert – Extroverts with good communication skills have a natural advantage when it comes to entrepreneurship. You feel more comfortable with engaging with other people, as a result you have wider networks, team Dynamics and charisma.

4) Persistence – Being an entrepreneur, many times things don’t go as planned. In these moments giving up is never the solution. You need to try a hundred times if you have to but get it right. Don’t quit, rest.

5)Time management – One thing that even raising millions in investment won’t help is buying time. It’s the single most important asset an individual must have. The only way to save it is by using your time wisely.
