Erica Adugwo is a multi-passionate entrepreneur and coach. She specializes in coaching aspiring leaders and entrepreneurs in their personal and professional growth. In this interview, Erica talks about her journey, work, and what it takes to be a successful entrepreneur.
Our readers love to read stories of women creating an impactful change in the world. Please tell us about yourself and the incredible work you do.
I am Erica Kenechi Adugwo. I am a life purpose coach and an entrepreneur. I am also the founder of YourAffirmationsDaily, a personal brand dedicated to promoting mental and emotional health and wellness. I want to help change the inner narrative for many young people aspiring to be leaders or entrepreneurs. I know that what most need is inspiration and words of encouragement. In deciding to become a life purpose coach, I can provide a more hands-on approach to helping young aspiring leaders and entrepreneurs unleash their greatness and create the life they have always dreamed of. And today, I am doing just that through coaching services and words of encouragement offered at YourAffirmationsDaily.
We would love to know about your entrepreneurial journey in detail. Could you walk us through your story and tell us how it all began.
This is the first time that I have intentionally set out to run a business. I chose the idea of being a life purpose coach because I worked a 9-5 for several years, and it wasn’t the most rewarding.
I reached a point where I realized that I wasn’t happy because I wasn’t taking action on any of the things that I truly wanted. I spent a whole year learning a new industry and the tools to succeed in that industry. It took faith, courage, effort, unwavering commitment, persistence, a positive mindset, and most of all, ACTION. If you want something different from what you have been getting, you have to do things differently. It will not be easy, and sometimes distractions or underlying fears may come up. But when you know where you are going, you remain focused despite the challenges that may come your way.
As a multi-passionate entrepreneur, how do you switch between various aspects of your work and keep it going?
I try to balance out my roles by proper time management and putting the best use of each day. I am a goal-oriented person, and I usually set one or two goals that I ensure to meet before moving on to another set of plans. I break down my goals concerning the main living areas that I would like to tackle: relationship, career, educational, personal finance, health, recreation, spiritual, social, and emotional goals. When pursuing my dreams, I refrai=n from having multiple plans and projects in various life areas. In this way, I know how best to prioritize and channel my energy and efforts.
What serves as an everyday driving factor to your creativity? What makes your work different from others?
For me, success is about making a difference and being true to who I am. I have a big vision for excellence, so when clients come to me with an unclear picture, I create a vivid image of what they can achieve and who they can be while also making them understand that I do not expect anything from them. I do not place any pressure on them to conform to my expectations. As humans, we all have the capacity and the ability to be creative and do better today than what might have been done yesterday. I also know that we can be better tomorrow than we have been today. I am living proof of that.
After reading about your work, we are inclined towards knowing more about the services you offer. What does it entail?
As a life purpose coach, I have a sincere interest in helping people succeed. And because I genuinely care about people, the majority of the work I do revolves around assisting people to overcome their self-imposed limitations so that they can live a life of passion and purpose. I provide coaching services to people who operate on both ends of the spectrum, including top high-level professionals. I have a 7 step framework to coach clients through their limiting beliefs to help them expand their visions and realize their passions. My main aim is not to fix or change clients but to give them the right motivation to want this for themselves.
