Some of the most famous actors you know blew their career up just by appearing in one national TV commercial or one famous music video.
David Kang, an Asian American who runs a casting agency, knows how this opportunity can open doors to better jobs. This is why his business, David Kang Casting, focuses on casting for commercials and music videos to give people the break that they need.
Transitioning to Commercials and Music Videos
After serving four years in the U.S. Marine Corps, David began casting military, law enforcement, and firemen in movies and TV shows.
“Casting for movies and TV shows took too much time and I gradually transitioned into casting for commercials and music videos. I love what I do because I help so many people get their start in the business,” he said.
Turning Passion into Profit
It wasn’t always money for David. At the beginning of his career, David has done plenty of free jobs just to get his name out there and have others recognize his passion for the business.
“Being an Asian American, I always fought harder to get what I wanted to prove myself over and over. I wanted people to know that anyone can make it in the business with hard work and great work ethics,” he said.
For him, one way to make a name industry is by wanting it to happen more than anyone else.
David has worked hard and gone the extra mile to be where he is today.
When asked about how he came far in the business, David answered “Network, network, and network.”
