How Mark Sellar Went From One Store in Australia to a Multimillion-Dollar Business

Mark Sellar is one of the world’s most successful entrepreneurs. His inventions and innovations are used globally. He is the founder and CEO of Fantom Hardware. Mark invented the Fantom Doorstop in 2014 and it was sold from one store in Adelaide.  From Fantom Hardware’s humble beginnings as a single product company, it has grown to become a massive outfit.  Today, Fantom Hardware has around 100 different products, selling hardware into 100 countries via a network of thousands of distributors, sub-distributors, wholesalers, and stockists.

Fantom Hardware designs and develops groundbreaking doorstop products. Their core range includes innovative, magnetic doorstops with the flagship product line being the Fantom Doorstop, which rose to fame thanks to a social media campaign where their videos were viewed more than 50 million times.

Sellar has just announced that his company is further expanding its global reach. He has just secured stockist deals for Fantom Doorstop across Europe through retailer Epicenter, in Ukraine and retailer Leroy Merlin, in Russia.

The Fantom Doorstop is the only product of its kind and is the number one doorstop product globally. Its major function is to operate as a trip hazard-free, fully concealed, aesthetically pleasing doorstop. The product’s patented striker plate design not only allows for smooth activation and deactivation, but it also holds doors firmly in place as a hold-open device doorstop.

”With all components concealed either within the door or the floor, it is ideal for internal use for commercial, hospital, hotel, retirement, and general use,” Sellar said.

The Fantom Doorstop uses a rare-earth N30 neodymium magnet to activate the floor pins and engage in 80 milliseconds – making it fast, efficient, and reliable fast-moving doors.

New stockist deals

The new stockist deals will extend the reach of the company and its products across much of Europe.

According to Sellar, the new stockist deals mean that the products will be installed in more homes and facilities around the world, thanks to their Russian partner, Made Italy Group, and Ukraine business, Fantom Hardware. The company has partnered with local door manufacturer RODOS to successfully stock Fantom Hardware products on the shelves of highly reputable hardware retailer Epicenter throughout Ukraine. Sales have been growing month on month in Ukraine, with demand increasing.

The stockist deals present further significant opportunities for Fantom Hardware. Leroy Merlin is one of Europe’s leading hardware retailers. The group is a French headquartered home improvement and gardening retailer with 290 stores across 12 countries.

Worldwide success

With the continual launch of new products, Fantom Hardware is prepared for huge growth.

Under Sellar’s leadership, Fantom Hardware has partnered with numerous leading international companies to spread their home-grown Australian products to over 100 countries worldwide. These partners include Häfele, Assa Abloy, Richelieu, and more. Fantom Hardware is constantly exploring new opportunities to grow its portfolio of innovative new products.

Sellar believes that any idea has the potential to be a worldwide success; it just takes vision, energy, determination, and the will to make it happen. Fantom Hardware is a great example of this!
