How Comprehensive MD’s, Dr. David Greenwald, Delivers Life-Changing Treatments in Neurosurgery

Living a life free of pain is not a thought that typically crosses one’s mind when managing the many hurdles that life brings. However, making this is a significant possibility is something Dr. David Greenwald, Co-founder, and Neurosurgeon at Comprehensive MD, knows all too well. Focused on the surgical treatment of brain and spinal disorders in men and women, His lifelong motivation to master the complexity and precision of the surgical procedures he performs allows for outstanding treatment to people of all ages so they may live the best version of themselves.
Having attended medical school at the University of Southern California, Greenwald later completed Neurosurgical Residency and trained at the renowned Shands Hospital at the University of Florida. Since 1998, he has been actively practicing in Florida and Southern California. Constantly seeking to provide the highest level of care in neurosurgical procedures, Greenwald has learned to understand the needs of patients while exceeding their expectations with life-changing treatments.
Launching his practice in March of 2020, Greenwald alongside orthopedic surgeon Dr. Nestor Javech leads a multi-specialty medical practice with two locations in South Florida. Approaching work with a patient-first mentality, he utilizes the latest technology to help others. “I am very interested in biotechnology, biomaterials, and biomechanics. As such, I work with biomedical engineers to improve and develop the implants used to stabilize the spine,” Greenwald shares. His attention to innovative technology points to efforts that are critical for the future of spine surgery with the use of fluoroscopic and computer-enhanced imaging techniques on the horizon. “Currently, spine surgery is evolving towards less invasive techniques that minimize muscle injury and intraoperative bleeding, but still allow for appropriate decompression, spinal realignment, and stabilization.” Along with the inspiring actions and impression he leaves on so many, these resources highlight the remarkable work Greenwald performs on a daily basis.
With over 20 years of experience and thousands of surgeries under his belt, Greenwald has a fair share of story-telling patient experiences. One that continues to stick out over the years involves the impactful account of a 40-year-old woman who once was rapidly losing her ability to walk. “She had a tumor in the thoracic area that I took out and she regained full recovery. It was very satisfying for me,” he shares. While operating daily on multiple people is just a day in the life of Greenwald, the painstaking work spent is a proud reflection of the gratifying and rewarding times of saving someone’s life, preventing paralysis, or even helping those with excruciating long-standing pain.
Looking forward, Comp-MD plans to expand surgical and nonsurgical services to treat patients with brain, spinal peripheral nerve, and orthopedic injuries across multiple locations in the south Florida region. This will also include interventional pain procedures. With his extensive experience and commitment to his line of work, Comp-MD plans to deliver a complete service line in neuro and orthopedic surgery that translates into relieving pain and improving functional outcomes for the lives of many, one patient at a time.
