Women Who Disrupt

How Lexi Vazquez Overcame Ageism To Be The Best in Her Industry

Lexi Vazquez is a young woman who is already an experienced account manager in the service and information technology space. She started working at the age of 15 alongside her father. As a smart and driven young woman, she saw many aspects of her dad’s business. But like a lot of youngsters, she also had to deal with ageism. When you’re young but already part of the business team, others have low expectations of you. You will encounter people who don’t think you can handle any responsibilities. This can be tough sometimes, especially when you are driven and hardworking to achieve results.

Because Lexi Vazquez started so young in the business world she always and still has to deal with ageism. Luckily she has had thick skin since the beginning which helps her handle the age discrimination in the office. Over the years she got used to dealing with it. How did she overcome ageism and become the best in her industry? The short answer is her aforementioned thick skin, persistence, and perseverance. But of course, there is more to the story. Her father had his own business, Fastforward Digital Solutions (FDS).

This gave her the chance to start gathering business and sales experience early in her life. But don’t think it was presented to her. She had to prove herself from a young age. Her dad always tried to teach her to become better at sales and business. In reality, this went with ups and downs. But Lexi Vazquez has always been tenacious. She uses failures to learn and grow. When she succeeds it boosts her self-confidence and confirms she is going in the right direction. What helped her is to have one person who is her rock. Her grandmother is her rock and is always there to support her.

When you are confronted with ageism, perseverance and persistence play an important role, because it usually takes more time for young people to be perceived as a professional by clients and colleagues alike. Lexi Vazquez grasped this concept at a young age. She always follows through on promises and commitments. To gain trust from a client is extremely important, even more so when you are still young. She keeps learning more about the products and services they offer to local businesses in Florida.

It is of utmost importance to become a knowledgable and reliable expert for her clients and prospects. Most of all, Lexi Vazquez stays true to herself making her very authentic. Her mission in her career is to build long-lasting, strong, and transparent business relationships with her clients. The only way to do this is to stay authentic. A fake image can’t build high-quality long term relationships.

And she is highly successful with her approach. At the age of 19, she closed a 100,000 multifunction printers deal. In her second year, she made 1.2 million dollars in sales making her the number 1 rep. in Florida. At 20 years of age, she has become a homeowner. Lexi Vazquez is a shining example of a young woman conquering ageism and becoming the best in her industry.
