How Neil Canlas Made a Name For Himself in Real Estate

A Different Type of Leader

Along with his brother and business partner, Daryll, Neil started and co-owns multi-million dollar producing companies in the real estate space.  Owning both a real estate flipping and development company and a real estate brokerage, Neil provides leadership to their teams and consistently strives to achieve goals.

The two brothers started from nothing. Neil and Daryll have successfully started and excelled in their real estate businesses. Neil believes that he is just getting started and will never stop inspiring and empowering others around him. Leadership, to him, is the cornerstone of any successful business.

Making A Name

I asked Neil how he made a name for himself in his industry, and this is what he had to say: “We started from the bottom at the best brokerage in San Francisco. Literally worked our way up from not having a desk to having the biggest office + 2 smaller offices just for us. Before we went independent, we were the #1 team at all 5 offices of the brokerage. It all started with one sale.”

Overcoming Roadblocks

When asked what obstacles he had to overcome to get where he is today, Neil said “We were born to immigrant parents that were from the Philippines. We had a lot of love in our family, but didn’t have the same advantages that a typical American kid has. I think this gave us that “chip on our shoulder” mentality, which set us apart from everyone else.”

So how did Neil and his brother overcome that obstacle? Here’s how: “By keeping our heads down and working. When others took breaks or partied, we worked.  We worked hard, then started working smarter. Step by step, we overcame any obstacle that was put in our way.”

Standing Out From The Crowd

Still, with all of this success, what makes Neil and his brother Daryll stand out? How are they so different from the crowd? Here is what Neil had to say about that: “We are down to take risks. I feel a lot of companies in our industry (a flipping company or a real estate brokerage) don’t take risks. We know that if we act scared, we will not obtain the quantum leaps we are looking for.”

It’s been said that money follows risk and speed, and this brother-dou employs both of those things with incredible execution that anybody should envy and admire, and want to copy.
