Marta Sej Shares Her Secret on How to Win Half a Million-Dollar Client In Only 6 Months

Starting a business amidst a pandemic may seem like a crazy idea to most people. Defying the odds and thrill-seeking new challenges is what only a few people thrive on; addicts mainly. Research shows that entrepreneurs and addicts have similar genetic wirings. The definition of addiction is compulsive engagement in rewarding stimuli; despite the adverse consequences. It’s the same feeling entrepreneurs get when they experience a spike of adrenaline and excitement when launching new ventures.

Social media then glorifies the Hustle Culture. Collecting followers who go crazy for the ‘I’m grinding when you’re sleeping’ posts. People can go viral by just posting how they went from zero to a million in two minutes—attracting even more people by adding filters and hashtags. What’s even crazier? Nowadays, everyone can also buy followers. How crazy is that!

But this question remains, “Is it even possible to reach your first million without the prodigious boasts on social media?”

Yes, it is! Marta Sej launched her coaching business in November 2020; her success has skyrocketed with one primary focus in mind. Starting with almost no Instagram followers, she secured her 6 figure deal just six months later.

Behind every successful entrepreneur is an incredible coach, mentor, or supportive circle of people. Or all of the above. “Relationships should be your No. 1 priority. Success is important. What’s even more important is impact. Your success can stay alive forever when implanted in the hearts of the people around you.” Harnessing the power of impactful connections, Marta’s Coaching is now recognized in Australia’s Top 1% of all performance coaches.

In 2020, Marta was an owner of a corporate travel agency. It was one of the most profitable shops in Sydney CBD(Central Business District) until the pandemic hit. With traveling being banned globally, revenue dived 95%! As a result, Marta Sej had some hard decisions to make. First, it was having to let go of her employees, reducing hours, slashing her income in half, and eventually, losing her identity after a 12-year career in the Travel Industry. Burned-out, penniless, and broken, in November 2020, she closed the door for the agency.

As the headline of this article suggests, Marta may have ‘only’ been in her coaching business for six months, but the key is she dedicated her whole life to cultivating deep, authentic connections. Twelve years in corporate travel can allow many opportunities to meet new people, new business, and networks. It can also produce multiple job offers when in need!

“Your whole life can change with one relationship.” What was initially a valued client, booking corporate travel, developed into a powerful business partner. Marta got offered to be part of an up-and-coming Account Management firm to re-design their training programs and incorporate self-development coaching. This combination will revolutionize training altogether. Boost in staff performance and wellbeing is just the beginning.

Marta is on a mission to eliminate overwhelm in the workplace. It is the only program of its kind in Australia. Her coaching programs are engineered to empower individuals to improve teams and ultimately accelerate the entire business.

Equipped with tools and skills, Marta draws out her client’s wisdom so they can maximize work or personal potentials and reach their goals faster and more efficiently.

Top five ways on how people can grow and harness powerful business relationships:

1) Leverage your current connections

The best and easiest way to expand one’s network is to be the ‘Friend of a Friend.’ Let them scan through their contacts and get in touch with a friend they haven’t spoken to for a while. “It’s much easier to ask for an introduction from someone you already know than breaking the ice yourself.”

2) To be interesting, be interested

People love talking about themselves. Ask great questions and then listen to understand, not to respond. People can feel if one is genuinely present in their conversations. Add value to someone else’s life before gaining one. It can be as simple as an online review to recommending someone for local business awards, like ‘fastest-growing business’ or ‘top CEO.’ “Be so good that people will have a hard time ignoring you.”

3) Ask for referrals and testimonials

Referrals and testimonials are among the most powerful marketing and lead-generating tools because they create immediate credibility. “Sharing testimonials acts as proof that your brand is successful at helping others achieve desired results.”

4) Make it personal

Find common interests that are not related to work. “The more diverse layers you build in a relationship, the faster you create a deep connection. Leave your elevator pitch to the end or, even better, to the second conversation.”

5) Hang out with successful people

“Assess where you are and where you want to ‘network up.’ Ask yourself: ‘Is my network diverse?’ ‘Do I have connections across different industries?’ Having relationships with colleagues of different generations, those above and below you in the org chart, in and outside your organization, will bring new opportunities.” Look up meetups, join Facebook groups, venture out to different venues and events.
