Meet 2021 Recipient of the Patrick Maddren Scholarship – Uyioghosa ‘James’ Ebomoyi

Founded by entrepreneur and philanthropist Patrick Maddren, the Patrick Maddren Scholarship proudly announces one of the winners of its 2021 scholarship award

The Patrick Maddren Scholarship committee proudly announced the two recipients of its 2021 award, one being Mr. Uyioghosa ‘James’ Ebomoyi. James is currently attending DePaul University where he is pursuing his Master’s in Education. As a leader with a lifelong commitment to inspiring and supporting others, Mr. Ebomoyi has a history of providing guidance. In addition to his position as Alpha Team Leader during his second year of ROTC where he acted as a mentor to other cadets in the program, this young entrepreneur also volunteers with children, and operates a successful internet marketing business.

“James’ video was extremely impressive. Even before getting to know him further, I could tell a lot about his work ethic from his video,” stated Patrick Maddren, the Founder of the scholarship. “We received a lot of wonderful video essay submissions, but James’ detail in answering the essay prompt and editing really stood out,” Mr. Maddren continued.

DePaul University is the largest Catholic university in the United States and proudly provides an urban education with a global perspective. This private institution serves nearly 23,000 students. Despite being busy with his academics and entrepreneurial ventures, in his spare time James volunteers at after-school programs that cater to at-risk youth. He also enjoys reading and learning more about business strategies and personal development.

“Mr. Ebomoyi definitely has a very bright future ahead. I have no doubt in my mind that he will accomplish amazing things not only for himself, but for the community. I’m proud to congratulate him as one of the Patrick Maddren Scholarship’s inaugural recipients,” Mr. Maddren concluded. James has worked with at-risk children for the past several years and plans to continue to search for a more ways to support kids that may be having a difficult time in school. “It’s my personal goal to have children say that I the made learning fun for them and that I made a difference in their lives,” James declared.

The Patrick Maddren Scholarship awards $1,000 to two students annually. This  is scholarship requires a video essay submission with the student’s application. James’ winning essay can be viewed on Youtube or on the official scholarship website.
