Meet the 2021 Recipient of the Patrick Maddren Scholarship – Alexis Freeman

Founded by entrepreneur and philanthropist Patrick Maddren, the Patrick Maddren Scholarship is proud to announce one of the winners of its 2021 scholarship award

The Patrick Maddren Scholarship committee proudly announced one of the two recipients of its 2021 award, Alexis Freeman. This fall Ms. Freeman will be continuing her education with a focus in Hospitality and Tourism Management at the beautiful Hawaii Pacific University. Alexis has acted in several leadership positions academically over the past 5 years, including serving as her high school’s Associated Student Body (ASB) President. In her collegiate career, she looks forward to continuing to develop her leadership skills and venture into entrepreneurship. “In Alexis’ video essay, her personality really shone through,” scholarship Founder Patrick Maddren stated. “Alexis shared real life examples of times she stepped up to lead her peers, but what I also took note of was her ability to multitask and balance numerous responsibilities at one time. I believe that’s one of the most underrated skills of a successful leader and entrepreneur,” Mr. Maddren continued.

Aside from Hospitality, Alexis has a number of hobbies that she enjoys in her free time. “I love the ocean, surfing, hiking, and photography, so I cannot wait to explore the island of Hawaii.” As she pursues her degree with a goal of launching an event planning business, Alexis has acted in several leadership positions academically over the past 5 years, Alexis is sure to gain a world of knowledge and experience at her college of choice, Hawaii Pacific University. Hawaii Pacific University, also known as HPU, is a private college in downtown Honolulu that boasts a beautiful campus on a breathtaking island with a faculty of professors who are the top in their fields in academics and applied industry knowledge.

“Ms. Freeman has such a bubbly and upbeat personality. I feel very confident that an education and career in the Hospitality industry and an event planning business is perfect for her. I’m proud to support her endeavors through the Patrick Maddren Scholarship and to congratulate her as one of our inaugural recipients,’ Mr. Maddren concluded.
