Social media influencers, who have large followings on social media, have completely changed the retail marketplace. Influencers have developed relationships with brands whose products they promote because of their rise in popularity. Influencers can now highlight their favorite products with the help of Bigwig.

As a psychology graduate, Tina Maskan wanted to connect with people on a larger scale. Despite having limited experience with technology, she was determined to achieve her dreams. Cole Lopez, co-founder, and COO traded his aspirations to become a model to focus on his entrepreneurial and design skills. In collaboration, they developed a platform that connects influencers with followers and products that they are passionate about.

Brands typically partner with influencers to promote their products on their social media pages. After following the link, followers will be able to access the brand’s products. This often leads to complicated steps and Internet redirects to make a purchase. In a marketplace designed specifically for this purpose, Bigwig allows influencers to directly link to lifestyle products they love.

With Bigwig, you can organize products by category, such as “Vanity” for makeup or “Good Vibes” for candles. Besides finding what they’re looking for, shoppers can also know what products are recommended by their favorite and most trusted influencers. This makes life simpler for influencers by eliminating the obligations of brand partnerships. In addition, it makes life simpler for their fans who can now visit one website for all their lifestyle product needs.

Influencers have earned their name for a reason. The thousands of followers that these social media stars have a profound effect on them. Many fans aspire to emulate the lives of their favorite influencers. Products play a huge role in this, which is why influencers have become central to success in the retail industry. If a popular influencer recommends a product, fans will purchase it. There are not any middlemen involved with Bigwig, because influencers can share their favorite products to be purchased directly by fans.

Maskan and Lopez hope to make Bigwig an in-person experience as well, by utilizing pop-up shops where possible. On October 20th, their first pop-up shop opened at LA’s famed shopping destination, Americana at Brand. Shops like these allow influencers and fans to meet and shop in person. Influencers like Landon Romano were featured in the first pop-up shop. In addition to promoting products, this experience gives fans a chance to meet their favorite influencers.
