In light of releasing a new single earlier this month called “Tina Turner”, rising New York Hip Hop Artist UNOWAY sits down with us to chat. You can read the interview below:

-Beginning of interview-

Tell us about your background, what have you gotten to where you are today?

I had a memorable childhood, living in Puerto Rico for 3-4 years when I was younger, to growing up in New York. Experiencing life in 2 totally different worlds has definitely found its way to shape who I am today. I believe hard work & my ambition got me to where I am today.

Where are you from?

Long Island, New York

When did you start music?

Summer of 2017 right after I graduated high school.

How did you get into music?

I wanted to start learning how to become a music engineer, so I bought a small home studio worth $300 for my older brother because he was rapping at the time. After 6 months or so I decided to try and make a song, the rest is history.

What is the most challenging thing you have overcome in your life?

Growing up in poverty & getting to where I am now.

Are you currently signed or independent?

Recently signed.

Who inspires you the most musically?

Before I made music Chiddy Bang was my biggest inspiration musically, nowadays artists like Roddy Ricch, Bruno Mars, Justin Bieber, & The Weeknd inspire me the most.

What do you want people to take away after listening to your music?

I want them to be able to identify themselves with some tracks, but for the most part just feel happy when listening to my songs.

Any new music coming out soon?

Yes, I have my highly anticipated song “Cobra” dropping soon, & My debut album… TBD!

What is your greatest achievement as a musician?

So far it has to be the end of 2020, when I found out I did over 1 million streams that year, felt pretty amazing.

Do you produce your own music?

If not who do you work with? I’ve produced songs of mine but haven’t released any yet, but I work very close with Alejandro Armez, hottest young producer I know!

Who is one artist you wish you could work with?

Justin Bieber!

Tell us about any new music you have coming out? When is coming out? What is it about?

I have a single called “ Cobra “ coming out soon. This song tells a story about a girl who didn’t care for this guy when he was just an average Joe & ended up coming around after he got some money & fame. Your typical gold digger story, but the song is fire!

What does a day inside your shoes look like?

Wake up, Freshen up, Have some breakfast , catch up on emails, and write songs throughout the rest of the day. Not the most eventful.

Anything else you want the audience to know about you?

I’m super grateful for my fans & supporters, and I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for us!
