What Inspired Kaci Janson to Venture Into Real Estate

Family is a relevant part of society because it serves as a building block for individuals to learn the values and skills needed to navigate everyday life.

At times, family also serves as a source of inspiration for people who want to do and achieve more in life. Kaci Janson, a real estate investor, drew from her love for her family to create a business that pays tribute to her passions and allows her to spend more time and earn more money for the people she loves.

“I am the mom of two young boys and the founder of A Boy and His Dog, Inc. I decided to incorporate my two favorite loves, my boys and my extensive work in dog rescue, into my business name,” she said.

Presently, Kaci invests in real estate across seven different states and focuses on multi-family structures in A, B, and C+ neighborhoods in high-growth areas. She’s also involved in a flipping JV that flips an average of 50 homes per year.

Seeking a Healthy Change

Kaci ventured into the real estate industry because she wanted a healthy and sustainable schedule that enabled her to create a meaningful relationship with her two sons.

“My one and three-year-old boys, at the time, were spending 11-12 hours a day at daycare. I was working between 50-60 hours per week at my W2 job. I was exhausted, cranky, overwhelmed, and needed a change that allowed me to be present for my boys,” she said.

As Kaci had her eyes focused on this goal, she also tapped into the values that her father instilled in her.

“Growing up, he was an incredible role model for setting and achieving goals. Now, my boys push me to achieve everything I can,” Kaci shared.

Creating a Family-Based Business

Throughout her career, Kaci developed an intensive network of colleagues and mentors that contributed to their success. Despite their developments, she always tries to maintain familial values in their every move.

A Boy and His Dog Inc. is a family-based investment business. Kaci said that they are not a huge corporate conglomerate designed to take out the small players in the industry.

“We are a father, daughter, and son team working together for the legacy of our family. If the deal isn’t a win, win, win, we don’t want to be involved in it,” she said.

Together, they plan to continue their company’s rapid expansion to show that family is a strong inspiration that encourages anyone to pursue their dreams.
