What is UX Design and how can it help your business grow?

By now, most people know that UX stands for user experience. But knowing what it stands for is not the same as really understanding the details that make it up and make it work. In fact, most people would have a hard time explaining what designing for a user experience means, or what a UX designer actually does.
So What The Heck Is User Experience Design?
UX Design (User Experience Design) or “User Experience Design” is a design philosophy that aims to create products that meet the specific needs of its end users, achieving the greatest satisfaction and best possible user experience with the minimum effort. Like you see in the image above, we UX Designers wear many hats (there will be another article going deeper into this) but we all have ONE common goal of not making the user think!!
When we make users feel like they know what the heck they’re doing with little explanation, they feel happy, accomplished, and valued, thus making them returning loyal customers.
A lot of big silicon valley companies have based their success on this very practice!! Companies such as Airbnb, Netflix, Amazon, Apple, Alibaba, Google and Facebook study the behavior of their users to better develop products and services. And if these big names use it, then it must be pretty legit right?
Alright so now that your all caught up!! How can UX help your digital products or your business grow?
Im freaking glad you asked!!, UX is not just about the user. UX Design is a supporting function for businesses.
An excellent User Experience can generate:
- More sales ($$$)
- Less customer complaints
- Higher levels of audience satisfaction
- Increased loyalty
- Returning customers
- Cost reduction in development (of a digital product)
And all of this is done by getting to know your users!
When you get to know your users you can better address their wants and their needs.
In UX Design we call these “pain points”.
Users expectations on their experience of products are on the rise. Consequently, to remain competitive, businesses need to implement UX Design into their products to ensure their customers have the seamless, pleasurable experience they have come to expect from all these major platforms like Google ,Instagram and Facebook.Your customers out there use these major services every day, hence thats why they’re so freaking successful!!
This means your product ,website and or business process WILL ALWAYS BE COMPARED TO THESE BIG NAME PRODUCTS AND SERVICES!! So your business or product’s user experience must be up to par to these seamless standards to be successful. Luckily here locally in Puerto Rico UX or as I like to call it “#UXBORICUA” has become a rising star within the local San Juan tech scene and is added success to the development processes of all these up and coming start ups, and successful ventures from Parallel 18 and Piloto 151.
In which industries can User Experience Design be applied to?
In any industry that has to deal with human interaction and or technology. UX has the ability to help in any process of any company in some way or another creating efficiency and less friction in its processes.
