How His Passion For Sports Inspired Eddie Kim to Start His Own Management Agency

Eddie Kim has always been inclined to sports. Growing up, he was a successful student-athlete who engaged in swimming particularly during his time in elementary school and junior high school.

“During the 90s and early aughts, it was nearly unheard of for an Asian-American athlete to stand out and become an NCAA Division I swimmer. But thanks to my commitment to the sport, hard work, I accomplished the nearly-impossible goal. I fought through serious injuries in high school that almost threatened to derail my swimming career. Through the odds, I ended up signing my NCAA Division I Letter of Intent with the U.S. Military Academy at West Point at the age of 17,” he said. `

However, Eddie’s athletic career did not end the way he envisioned it. As he was in the middle of trying to find himself, post-swimming, he began planning a  roadmap that took me to different destinations.

But despite taking other roads, he circled back to his childhood dream which brought him back to sports.

“It was my dream since I was a child to found my own agency and to become a pro sports agent. I was a fan of the HBO show “Entourage” when I was in college, which, even though it is a scripted television show, in a way, really gave me an in-depth look into what that life was like,” he said.

Now, Eddie has made his dream come true with Big Game Management, an agency whose mission is to help, represent, guide, and advise individuals in their respective industries with honesty, dignity, and integrity.

Where He Got His Inspiration

For Eddie, the idea behind his dream business, which is embodied by Big Game Management, started at a young age when he went to the Pacific Theaters near the San Fernando Valley to watch Jerry Maguire with his parents who were big fans of Tom Cruise and Cuba Gooding Jr.

“At a young age, I knew exactly what Tom Cruise’s job description was. In the movie, he portrayed a certified pro sports agent. My inspiration gradually became more and more real as I was in the middle of the process of obtaining my Master’s degree, and my time as a U.S. Army officer was coming to an end and I began a pivot into a new career,” Eddie said.

Back in 2017, Eddie was enrolled in an Emotional Intelligence class during his Master’s program for his Leadership/Organizational Development degree. During this time his professor inspired me to start my business.
